I just got the notice from the court that I owe $264 for improperly wearing my seat belt!!!!!   I WAS WEARING it! Mother F$%KERS!!  I am going to have to go in and fight it, or at least ask the judge to lower the fine.  I don't understand where they get off.  There is no diagram or specific text in the CA DMV handbook or the actual law which I allegedly broke stating how to properly wear my seat belt.

apparently seat belts only count as clothing in the Castro and not on the bay bridge...   Shocked   Lips Sealed

I was wearing the belt across my chest and under my arm as apposed to over my arm and across my clavicle.  When he pulled me over I didn't even attempt to fix my mistake because I didn't think it was "illegal".

The front of my truck has a bench seat so there are 3 sets seat belts.  My driver's side female end was broken so I buckled into the middle seat's female end right next to it.  The cop saw that my buckle was in the one next to where it was supposed to be and asked me why I was using the middle seats female end.  I am assuming he thought that I just grabbed the closest buckle to make it seem like I was wearing my SB.  When I pulled the broken drivers side female end out from under the seat to show him that it was broken, and that I had made the effort to actually wear my seat belt by using the connector next to it... he wrote me a fix it ticket because it wasn't safe!!!  I asked for just a warning because I was wearing my SB and intentionally used the non broken connector so that I could wear it, but he assured me that the fix it ticket wouldn't cost anything so long as I got it fixed, and the "improper" seat belt violation was $20.

I got the fix it ticket signed off by taking cutting out the drivers side female end and disconnecting the middle lap belt.  I am still using the same connector, but now there are two male ends and two female ends.  No F%^King different than before, now it just looks like it is right.  The CHP that signed off on it didn't look twice.
