Looking to get some no-rise, below-the-triple clip-ons on my 696 somehow.

I dig on clubmans, but they look a lil.... off... on the monsters. the lines don't work out as well to me

No, not really - if you want that riding position
FYI the 3.5" Swatts will put the base of the grips two inches lower than stock bar height. Another one or two inches if you get the 2.5 or 1.5 risers. That means you can get quite a bit lower even if your clip ons of choice have some rise in them. Most of the lowering effect is created by the new bar angles.
The spacers may very well not be required on the clutch side (small reservoir)
Even when flipped, the spacer is required for the brake reservoir to clear the bar pinch bracket/riser on the Swatt clip ons. If you don't flip, two spacers and longer bolts. The MonsterParts spacer goes between the bars and the front part of the brake/clutch control assembly (masters) - moving everything forward and away from the bars (including the levers!). I think any clip ons will require a spacer - the brake reservoir is very close to the bars (I might be wrong though)
Another warning is in place - the banjo bolts point downwards - I'm wondering where they and the fluid lines will go - see the MotoWheels picture.

I've got tommaselli clip-ons on my s2r. It's tight but they fit, I'm still adjusting them because they aren't aggressive enough for me. Makes me really glad I dident get anything with a rise.

I was actually considering just PMing you instead of creating this thread. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
If you're gonna get wet, you might as well go swimming... so any Swatts that are flipped will hit the the top triple if they're as low as I'd like and have a little excess bulk/material (and I'd like to avoid buying something that needs spacers unless I absolutely have to). I would also prefer to have more downward angle than the Swatts have.
Ah, so the "adapter kit" IS the spacers... I see it now.
I didn't give the banjo bolts much thought. It seems like they might barely miss the turn signals. The flexible cables probably won't have that much trouble squeezing behind the headlight if that isn't a problem, but I don't know. MotoWheels also removed a little metal cable routing-clip behind the headlight to put those there (there isn't a lot of room between the fork and the headlight—Hamsandwich obviously wasn't affected by this).
Here are some interesting clip-ons that look like they wouldn't need any spacers, but they all seem to be much smaller than 50mm:
So back to plan B? Here's what adjustable clubmans might look like:

I like the idea of those adjustable clubpersons, seems like a good compromise to me. Who made those on that there Suzuki??
I'm STILL waiting for my SpeedyMoto riser clip-ons to arrive (the guys at Speedy tell me reservoirs will fit, yes even the brake side, without spacers but that a greater range of adjustability may be possible with spacers..... Monsterparts is out of stock and I cant find anybody to sell me cyclecat spacers.... so...um...

Well, the Tommaselli bar turned out to be a flaky POS. That got me not wanting to be a guinea pig with anything else, but I am still tempted to try something new...
Woodcraft clip-ons with spacers (Ranger06's bike):
If I get cold feet I'll be getting the unfortunately almost-stock Suburban Machinery M3 bars. At least it might be a cleaner look with the stock triple than clip-ons.

In what way were the Tommasellis flaky? Just wondering how they failed when theres a number of guys successfully using Suburban Machinery bars.... Having fitted Speedymoto 3 1/2" riser clip-ons under a new Speedymoto top-triple I found that spacers were needed and agree with
stopintime
that they're likely to be needed with pretty much any clip-on especially on the brake side. With the stock top-triple I think I'd be looking for some suitable clubman type bars... coz of the "cleaner look" you've already identified.

I just did a fork swap and put on Woodcraft 0" rise. The 2-piece clip will make install under the triple very easy. You do need a spacer on both reservoirs, but I just used some folded up strips of beer can between the inner curve of the res mount and the bar. Works fine.

They were flaky in the most literal sense—chrome flaking off. They were pretty beat up looking right out of the box. Could have been the vendor's fault, but... wasn't impressed with the welds/tolerances/quality in general. Also the knurled sections were too wide. Just cosmetic issues, but I don't wanna spend money on something unless it's perfect.
I've been going over this for some time now and I do think the most economical, safest bet is to just go with the SM bar. I've had a fetish for low clip-ons since I was a little kid, but I'm realizing this just isn't the bike for it (with my budget, at least). Probably better to stick with what it knows best, than to end up with a mutant hybrid with no rear-sets or aftermarket top triple.

If you don't wan to worry about spacers, just throw some $$ at it like I did...Speedy Moto triple, s4rs radial masters, and LSL's w/ 1.5 inch rise.
