Brembo Goldline Upgrade Complete

Hey all,
Well, as the Majority of you know I got told I was losing my Job at the Ducati Dealer because of the recession as of June 30 (They are closing the store down) I finished up on Monday morning as I have a new Job starting next week, I have gone back to the Car Audio world, I got a Job at WOW sight and sound, it's only Casual to start with (25 to 30 hours a week) but a job is a job, and the Manager of the store it looking for a Dept Manager for the section, and he said the couple of guys that are in there either are not interested or are moving to different sections, so we'll see what happens.
Anyway onto the Interesting stuff.
I got motivated today and removed the OEM Black Brembo kit from my S2R 800 and Installed the Spanky new Brembo Goldline Upgrade Kit, I changed the OEM bolts to Stainless Steel where I could, and I'll order the Stainless rotor bolts so next time the wheel is off to change the front tyre I'll put the stainless bolts in to stop corrosion.
Before:
After:
I have bled the system a couple of time this afternoon, but it's still a little spongy, So I have pulled the lever back to the bar and cable tied it there, topped off the fluid and left the Master cylinder cover loose to allow for any final bubbles floating around, but even in it's spongy form and when I was bedding in the disc's/Pads, the difference is mind blowing!
I could quite easily stand the bike on it's nose!!!
Even with the Ferodo XR pads and pulling the lever as hard as I could on the OEM system I could never have achieved that sort of stopping power.

Nice looking CD.
A very worthy upgrade for the S2R 800's they did suffer from lesser brakes.

Sorry to sound ignorant but was this a straight swap with no mods required. Also, where did you source them from, new or off another monster.

Have just ftted a pair of discs from one of the Sports models, not sure which, but the one/s that runs a 6 bolt pattern !
They are thicker than the stock M1000S ones, and the lever is now a lot more solid in feel and there is better bite when applied.

It's an upgrade kit from Ducati, it's basically just converts the S2R 800 into a S2R 1000 Braking system.

The only difference being that from the Factory the S2R 1000 brakes are Black and in the S2R 800 upgrade kit they are Gold (For Maximum Wank value
)
They have 2 different upgrade kits for the S2R 800 front end:
#96845805B The Goldline brake upgrade that I have fitted here I think it retails for about $1200
and
#96615702B The Radial front end, this kit includes new Disc's, Radial brakes, Ohlins forks, Magnesium bottom Yoke and Carbon Fiber Mud Guard, and it can be yours for approx $7000
The only thing I didn't get in the kit was brake fluid (Of course) Dumbass me forgot that little fact, started stripping all the old equipment off and then had to put it back together to go and get some fluid (That wasted half an hour)
But apart from that little brain fart, it all went on very easy, no drama's, no hassles, all the bolts and accessories to do the job are in the box, I just did a quick re-bleed this morning and it has all come up very nicely, so I'll have breakfast this morning, then I'm going for a run up the Gillies

Sorry Spider I can't see the difference from my OEM ones. Must be subtle. (Mine are dirtier at the moment tho)
Your bike is looking good CairnsDuc - I'm undecided on the chain, leaning more towards like than dislike.

Thanks Heatherp, I am undecided on the Chain myself, I'll probably put on a gold or black next time, leaning more towards the black. but I don't have to worry about that for quite a while

*waves* fellow installer here! Private cash work mostly, but since 1993. We dont have WOW here, but you get lots of kids buying their "bargains" at JB Hifi and the likes, then they blow something up DIY'ing it. So i come in and help for $
.
Are you on MEA or DIY forums? I'm also doing alot of comp judging these days too. Funny, as I left the industry in 02, only to come back in and its all changed, T/A this and PEQ everything to death that! No need to be good at installing anymore, electronics fix the f'ups.
Doing my an install for myself, its been years, 3-way active front, deadhead & I.B. 18" out back. Old school amps, new school drivers. - Chris
ps, let us know how the new job gets on!

I used to be involved on all levels of the Industry, judging, installing, used to be the Senior Moderator on the Rockford Fosgate forum (I still think I'm listed a the main Mod) I used to do dome mod work on some other forums.
I used to set up and run shows, Sound offs, set up and tune customer cars and then in my spare time setup, design and install my own systems (As in: Late night/Early mornings) but in the end I just burnt out, to much time in the industry, working 7 days and most nights for no extra money.
The worst I did was for setting up for a show on sat/Sun, Thursday night I had no system in the car, worked most of Thursday night, slept for 3 hours at work, went home and had a shower, came back and tweaked and tuned customer cars all day and then worked all night friday night to complete a system by about 4am the Saturday morning, tweaked and tuned until about 8 when all the customers turned up, drove the 3 hours to the show, spent all day sorting out customer cars and helping them. finally got to sleep at about about 11:30pm after the wet T-shirt comp (I had my priorities right
)
We won all but 1 class we entered, I walked away with a trophy, but decided I had had enough, it was no fun anymore.
I got out the industry for about 3 years, went back in again when a job presented itself, but again the hours started racking up and it was time to walk away again, but while I was there I designed and built this little number:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/423680
So this time I am just going in to do a job, no shows, no demo car, none of that crap, just walk in, do my job and walk out again.
Sorry to rant, but the Car audio industry has always held such mixed feelings for me.
