I would like to change the color of my seat.    If anyone has done this any advice is appreciated.    Are there places I can buy the fabric and just take to a upholstery shop

I would take the seat to the upholstery shop and talk to them.  They will know what fabrics will work and won't work.  Let them make recommendations of fabric they would prefer to use. waytogo

theyll most likely tell you to go vinyl, its low maintence, cheap and easy to work with and comes in some crazy designs then theyll take your seat, measure it, and cut order the right amount of fabric then use a steam press to shape it then reattatch it to you're seat. cost depends on area. but expect to pay around $2-300 for the whole deal.

If I had a garage to protect it, i would go with alcantara sewn in a diamond pattern to follow the frame. sweeeeet waytogo

but I would talk to your upholsterer first and go with what they have available unless you have something specific in mind. If you do want something they cant get for whatever reason there are a ton of places online and probably a few places local to you.  If your feeling bold you could attempt it yourself. you would need a roller, staple gun, and upholstery adhesive (depending on the foam heavy duty spray adhesive would probably work).  basically you just start at one end and stretch and staple your way around. basically.

Things to consider are not only how well the material resists weather (moldy, decomposing seat foam sucks) but also how it reacts to UV light. let alone durability, comfort, and ability to conform.

Try a motor trimmers, I had my seat reupholstered in marine vinyl for just $70 and it looks great. Just pick the colour vinyl you want and off you go.

I saved this from the old board...not sure if the owner is on this one, but I love the look of the white seat.

i just took mine to my local moto shop cuz the sun was eating it.  $120 installed.  combination CF look and non-slip vinyl with red stitching.  pics when it comes back.

I was considering doing it myself but once I had the material and bought an electric stapler, plus the time/hassle, might as well have a professional do it.
