695 and Ducati Performance Touring seat; staying latched

I bought my 695 last year with the Monster touring seat, which is quite comfortable.  [moto]

The only issue I have is that it won't stay latched.  We've tried spacers, oiling the mechanism, adjusting the lock cable, all to no avail--the only thing that has worked is installing a Hepco Becker Sport Star tail bag cinched on tight (no doubt by keeping the seat peg from pulling against the latch).

Anyone else have this problem with their 695 and the touring seat?  Find a permanent solution?  The shop is looking into replacing hardware.  

Bike and I are going to an Advanced Street Skills class tomorrow on an auto track and I suppose I'll have to keep the tailbag on if I want to try leaning over or hanging off.

Bummer. The only thing I can think of is to pass the seat onto me, that's a solution.

By spacers, do you mean washers under the latch?

Is the seat pin aligned/orientated properly?

Is there anything else that may be causing this?

I had the same problem after I got a new exhaust.  The hangers for the exhaust made it so the seat would not latch properly.  A couple of washers under the latch fixed it though.

+1 on DarkStar's suggestions.

Many people have the latching problem, but just about everyone I've spoken to got it fixed by adding 1~2 washers under the locking mechanism.  I have a touring seat and that's was my fix as well.  I also remember one person shaving down the rubber feet instead of adding washers.  Perhaps a combination of both would work for you?  But I have to be honest, unless it is a manufacture's defect, it shouldn't be that much work.

Have you tried it yourself with the washers or relied on the shop to "do it right"?

a few small washers under the latch worked just fine for my old 620

I removed the 2 rear rubber "feet", because with the washers solution the cowl (which was a pregnant dog to fit on the DP gel seat btw) touched the frame.

Now just recently after riding a couple of years like that I've noticed the cowl still rubbed off the paint from the frame to the bare metal.
Edit: the part where it rubbed of is at the passenger grips, not where the seat sits on the frame.
