I miss my bike...

How freaking hard is it to fix a Ducati?

(/rant)

Maybe PJ's will get it back to me before September?

What's wrong with it?

Maintenance take hours.  Frames from Ducati can take MONTHS (I waited 7 months for a frame for my Supersport a few years ago).  If they have the parts, then you need to begin a "call and pester" campaign.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease.  Cool

Heh, how much will it cost me to call in a favor mouse?

So, long story short... 2 1/2 weeks ago I dropped it off because it seemed to me it never was running right, hard to start, carbon stains out the pipes, stumbling and coughing at about 4k rpm.  Before they got the new service guy, I had it tested because the check engine light kept coming on.  He told me it was a lamba error, and verified that I have had all the service bulletins and recalls done.  Anyway, they couldn't get it to keep a tune the first week, sent some 10 page document to Ducati for evaluation (they are real proud of that document).  Last Friday I ask what's up, they tell me a lot of people in Ducati are no longer working there, lots of returned emails.  Asked them to call me on Saturday just to let me know if they found out anything about where they sent the "10 page document", no call.  Gonna call tomorrow and see whats up.

Silly thing is, I know there are only about a handful of things it can be; o2 sensors (lambda) MAF, injectors, TPS and computer.  Just about anything but the computer can actually be bench tested.  I just hate to think that the "10 page document" is sitting on the desk of someone that might have gotten fired and nobody is even trying to follow up on it.

I know, I'm overreacting, it's only been since the middle of July, it's not the best time of the year to ride, blah blah blah.  I just wanted to rant, no need to call the calvary.  I get real grumpy when I don't ride.  I think I will just register and insure the Blackbird, I get funny looks when someone comes over and sees her in the living room anyway Wink

Ducati is in Borgo Panigale, a suburb of Bologna, Italy.  This is gonna sound funny, but Italy takes off the month of August.  Not parts of Italy....ITALY.

If you ever take an Italian vacation, don't go in August, it's nearly impossible to get anything done.  Hotel staff take off.  Government employees take off.  Motorcycle manufacturers take off.  EVERYBODY takes off!!!

They should have sent this stuff back in July when somebody was still working!  The Ducati plant is effectively shut down.  You can't even get Ducati museum tours now.  (Ax me how I know) bang head

Very true.  Funny part, your parts will come from the warehouse on the east coast (in 2 days) if someone will just push enter, or entrare.
