got your PM.

I think it might be easier to just find a spare frame with a title. ive seen them pop up from craigslist from time to time for a 100 bucks. I would just swap out the frame. the CB750 seems popular enough. Though from the photographs, it seems the bike is in rather good condition. One has to assume the possibility of it being stolen.

You may check out here as well

http://www.ibmwr.org/market/adlist.php?cat=abs

I didn't browse any, but I'd imagine many of the bikes you'll find on that list will be a little out of your price range and probably won't be fixer-uppers either.  I'm pretty jealous though of your "tough decision" though Smiley  I have an 88 R100RT that I took to St. Louis this weekend (prepare for a rave about Gateway BMW in another thread) and they had the exact same year and model of my bike minus every ounce of bullshit the bike didn't need to run and it was GORGEOUS.

I can't say I'd know what to do in your situation either.  On one hand, the 750s I'm sure will have an abundane of cheaper parts and support.  On the other hand, it's an airhead BMW Smiley.  I think it's two opposite spectrum examples of time and effort.  Oh, and like Mr. Inc said, old Beemers are indestructible.  Mine has 120k on the clock and I have no doubt whatsoever it will give me many thousand more.

actually the CB750 and the BMW r75 were competing models. THe BMW was much more power and faster for its time, however it was nearly 1/3 of the cost more then the BMW.

I have the knowledge and ability to make parts for the bike to make it run. what i dont have are frabricating skils, such as making fenders etc. But hey, i can learn. Smiley

you know whats a bigger problem then deciding? I CANT FIND A BMW!!!!

oh and heres what dcuatizz was talking about

** From Craig's list ***
Not for wimps. Located Long Island. $5500 and don't even think of low-balling.

DOH the first thing I thought of was low-balling, hope I don't get into trouble
