are those made out of metal or ?

I honestly don't know - I found them by googling 'small round motorcycle LED indicators'... and this website popped up: http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyleds.htm

Materials aren't mentioned in the product description.

I figure they would only just peek out either side of the license plate if a tail chop kit was used... so they would should be nicely out of the way.

I've got Rizoma Zero-11's with an R&G tail.  Went this route cause, big surprise, I broke one of the stockers.

Lights sit either side of plate, towards top.  They are high enough to be seen over the Termi's.  Best part is they are short enough that they do not stick out farther than the edge of the seat/cowl.  And they can be seen from the side.  Will probably do them on the front as well.  I really like that the pulse is readily seen from the sides.  There's no comparison with the front stock blinkers.  Much better.

Sounds like the OP hasn't done a tail-chop yet.  The way that the stock rear signals are mounted, it makes it REALLY easy to knock them off.  Very easy for a light bump or careless leg-throwover to result in a dangling signal.

The lucky (i guess) thing about this is that the part that breaks isn't the signal or stalk itself, but rather the piece that it's mounted to... in the non-chopped case, this is a flimsy little piece of plastic that's part of the hideous rear fender.  I haven't heard of anybody having issues like this after doing a tail-chop.

I'm sure that the CW or DP fender eliminator kit will work great.  At least until any integrated options come out (not my thing, but sounds like the OP has that in mind specifically.)
