I dig single action autos. How's the 220 SAO treating you?

(Also, on the topic on single action autos, does Para Ordnance make a single action version of the 14rd 1911? All I ever hear about is the LDA....)

Like this?

A friend has a similar P-A single action that I've shot, and I really would like one...

Yes, exactly like that. Too bad it's $1300.

Edit: I suppose there are less expensive models, but I also don't have $900 I want to drop on a pistol right at the moment. :P

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I believe it is technically called a revolver, with "wheel gun" as a nickname.

Finally got some acceptable shots of them. I'll post detailed pics sometime soon. (Mind you the 870 will not stay so stock for long.)  [evil]

That's cool!

Also, for the record, I'm really interested in a shotgun as of late.

I don't know what for, but I feel like I should have one around.

I'm a big shotgun fan, especially for home/business defense. I've mentioned it before but I have taken 15-20 tactical shotgun courses over the years from some incredible instructors and taught the same at a local shooting academy for 11 years. Taught 4-6 weekend courses a year. The academy specialized in pistol mostly, then moved into urban rifle and long range rifle. So my classes came up about once a quarter with 1-2 more sprinkled in the schedule.

The shotgun is a very misunderstood weapon. People have lots of wrong (make that screwy!) ideas. I've heard lots of goofy stacked load stories. You need to find the right round for your scattergun and it's intended use. By Sunday my students were taking "hostage taker/bad guy" head shots with 00 buckshot from 10 meters and not putting a single pellet on the hostage. Consistently. And none of them thought that was feasible on Saturday morning at the beginning of class. Not that I am anything special they just found out what their shotgun was capable of with the right ammo and learned to judge shooting distances. Patterning your shotgun with a variety of defense shotshells is critical. They also learned that maybe their favorite Brand X 00 buck didn't pattern as well as Brand Y. Having a Vang Comp barrel is also VERY helpful.

I recommend taking a good tactical type shotgun course to anyone thinking of owning a shotgun for defense purposes. Just like any other firearm. Take all the classes you can and practice, practice, practice. If you don't use it you will lose it. Not good to "lose it" at 3:00AM when someone just kicked in your back door. :P Good luck with the shotgun search!! [thumbsup]
