What is the general consensus (if such a thing is possible) on the ergonomics of the 1100?

besides...one man's comfort is another man's excruciating pain.   I've gone lower and forward to find happiness while others go up and back (different bike though).

go demo one.

I immediately changed my seat to the DP touring seat. The angle is much better and it doesn't drive your goods into the tank. It adds height to a bike that is a bit taller than the M696, but I like it. I like it a lot! waytogo

I also felt a little more upright on this bike, so I thought about clip ons, but I'm done with mods. Just want to ride...

As suggested, take it out for a test ride since what I'm telling you isn't really relevant if our height is way off. And it is also dependent on personal taste. For example, some people like Coors Light. I think it's piss water. vomit
