I dunno. No reason to run H4 in a car since the low beam is used the most, wait scratch that, theres a lot of morons riding highbeam in the city. Why? I dont know, theres a mother make the beast with two backsing street lamp every 20 feet.

I bought the Philips X-Treme Power H4 when my high beam burnt out. Pricey at $40 shipped for a pair, but I've been very happy with the brighter (claimed +80%) light output. Very clean and white/yellow.
+1 you can get them online at
Philips X-Treme Power H4
you get the pair then split the costs with a friend

I've been using Phillips VisionPlus on all my vehicles for about 5 years and have yet to have one burn out. I bought some Xtreme Powers a couple of months and haven't got to use one yet.

yeah, been running the Phillips x-treme, frickin brilliant
have the oz monsters now run em too! (and only some of that is hero worship of yours truly!)
and Monsterparts have the PIAA for $10 and reports from some down under suggest it's good gear too.

H4 Silverstar on my bike... still operating after about 12k miles.
Silverstars in my car. They are quite old at this point. They were in my old car when it died, and I swapped them when I traded it in for the new car... 4 years ago. They are definitely better than stock bulbs, cleaner whiter light over stock.
Just for boasting about their life, Karma is gonna make them burn out in the next couple days... I can feel it.

Reading this, I suddenly realized I haven't had a car that uses light bulbs in almost a decade and a half.
I've put about 3,000 miles total on two different bikes (each with Silverstars) over 3 years, so I'm in no position to judge bulb life from any perspective. The light is purtier and more brighter, though...
