Oh yeah, totally an underpowered piece of shit. I don't get it.

I think you missed my point.

Why the make the beast with two backs would you steal stock radio from a cabrio? I mean seriously.

for her its perfect because she never really drove a car, so its a great "first car" and for a 99 man its clean very clean.. but yea very very underpowered
in NYC they stole my radio from my old 89 jetta TWICE, yep TWICE

The radio has to be removed, they the serial# to get the security code.  A little history on radio theft.  Back in the '70s and early '80s the norm was you couldn't walk two blocks in most cities without seeing a car with a broken window and a hole where the radio was.  BMW came out with the coded radio.  Others soon followed.  The theft problem greatly diminished.  Oh, is a coded radio any dumber than the immobilizer on a Ducati?

Is it too simple to contact the previous owner?

Bought it from a small dealer that bought it from an auction

I know this is pretty much the obvious question, but have you looked to see if they slipped the code sheet in the owners manual (provided you have it)? I know it isn't the place to leave it if you are worried about your radio being stolen, but that is where I put mine. The dealer should be able to hook you up if you get stuck.

FWIW, I keep mine in the manual with my windowsticker and service receipts (yes, I'm OCD and keep everything  [laugh])

now you guys know where it is if you steal my radio  [thumbsup]

also...I like Cabrios...especially when there are cute girls driving them

snip...

that's where i kept mine.  then someone broke (climbed though the sun roof) into my my car and stole the manual and another set of keys out of the cup holder.  two completely worthless items to them. but i lost all of my maintenance records and the set of keys ended up costing $900 to get the wife's saab running again (think losing red key, had to replace the ecu since we could not get disable the oem alarm without the only fob we had).

sorry, im rambling.   [bang]
