I'd recommend 280 all the way down from SF.

It's usually not too bad, and it's certainly much better than dealing with the narrowed lanes of 101 around Burlingame and San Mateo because of construction. Plus the road surface is just plain crappy through there as well.

Don't sweat it. The rule around here (DMF rides, anyway) is to ride at your own comfortable pace, and regroup at turnoffs. So go out, have fun, and be safe!
