I would have to dig my manual out but I thought Ducati said it was good till something like 320 or so. As far as synthetic oil breakdown, that is not really a concern as any quality synthetic is stable till well over 400F. Just remember that we are used to seeing water temps that are much lower so when I first saw that I was troubled too but quickly got used to it in south Florida stop and go traffic.
All my best ideas get me into trouble.

I am reminded of the immortal words of Socrates when he said, 'I drank what?!'

Some people are like Slinkies ... Not really good for anything..... But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Anti-friction additives for the oil do wonders as well. I have used them for years in various applications. I am currently using one made by Justice Bros.  [thumbsup] It is hard to find unless you can locate a distributor for them.  :( This stuff has been good for a 20-30 degree reduction in temp in most everything I have put it in. Not to mention the added bonus of reduced wear and how much smoother the engine runs. My S4RS ran way beyond hot when in stock form (lean) and adding the additive (after breakin) reduced temps by the avg mentioned above. Then I added the full Termi system w/ ecu and temps are no longer an issue... ever!

I hear the Lucas brand is awesome as well.

I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example!

Oops, sorry about that, didn't mean to confuse you if you weren't sure whether I was speaking truth or not.  :-X

Only way to cool an air cooled bike is to ride in the cold, or just ride faster [moto]

Again, an S2R can run very hot and still run perfectly fine.  I'd really only be worried when it gets closer to 300F

On my water cooled bikes, I use CYCLE LOGIC "Engine Ice" 1/2 Gallon  and/or "Water Wetter".

It seems like it ran a little cooler with a SPEEDYMOTO Billet H2O Pump Housing: '02+ . It must flow better. I have this on 3 of my bikes primarily to protect the impeller- but the side benefit was slightly cooler temps.

Rip the Duc turds from the fins, that wil help a little.  Its caused mainly by lean running.

Only way to really improve is to add DP ECU
