quick release fuel coupler?

I could have sworn someone put these on their bike but I can't find the thread where they posted their source. I'm having trouble quickly finding somewhere that I can get one. I found the Colder site where they seem to have what I want but it seems to be a wholesaler and I don't see where to buy.

Ideally I'd like non-spill with the non-spill side threaded so that I can replace the current nipple on the tank and not have to take up extra space with it. Don't think I need to spend the money on a double sided non-spill coupler since I imagine it would cost a lot more.

TIA

Are you talking about motion pro quick releases??

You can order them directly from motion-pro if you want.

IMO, you're not going to find a QD to thread onto that nipple.

I've bought those ones in Spidey's link, they work great.

Kinda. Was thinking of metal and those look plastic. I was actually looking for this and found it just now.

Yeah, that's the trick, I don't know what the threading is on the nipple since I've never taken it off. I know you did to do the POR15 though, think what I found could work?

$18.50 is a lot more appealing than $42 though. I could sacrifice cosmetics for economics.

Those MotionPro ones are plastic.

The metal ones are good stuff.
I'd be *really* *really* surprised if you could find one with a female thread other than NPT.

Oh, crap... The tank is a male side and the nipple is a female? Thought it was the other way around...

Oh, what's an NPT?

Yep, it's a male thread on the tank.

I'm gonna guess it's 12mm, and it's a fine thread.

Hmmm, well part of the reason that I wanted to put the valve right after the tank was so that there wouldn't be any hoses hanging around there if I take the tank off. If I don't mind hoses I can take my petcock off the bike and just leave all that hose hanging down there while I take the tank off and then I don't need a quick disconnect.

Hmm... I'll think about it. Thanks, guys.

you can just cut the tubing and install these right?

erkishhorde

Yeah, don't forget to get 2 more hose clamps though.

NPT = national pipe thread. see wiki for far more than you ever wanted to know about this.
I'm here for a good time, but not a long time.

Ah, I think that's the one I was looking for. Almost exactly like the Colder stuff but they let you pick which parts you want and it's cheaper.  [thumbsup]

Still not sure that they have what I want though. The only female 1/4" NPT connector they have is described as:
1/4" NPT female thread, Pipe thread, 1.25" MC Length, 1.53" MCD Length, Straight thru, Insert 1/4" flow

That seems to me like it's not a shut-off? Also, if I interpret this correctly you buy the 2 halves separately from this company?

Also, found this:
FT-MCD18-1032              10-32 UNF Female Thread Panel Mount Shut off

What's a 10-32 UNF?

edit: doh! 1032 UNF is a really tiny thread.  [roll]
