You can run turbines on many different types of fuel, this is true, although not necessarily ideal. It would probably run OK on pump diesel. True that its not lifting the weight of a helicopter, but it still burns ALOT of fuel even at idle and in low rpm range. I was commenting about its range.

I would have powered it with a Solar T62, puts out around 160 shp, burns roughly 12gph. Originally designed for a helicopter but used in a military generator since that project was scrapped by the government. One can be had for around $4k if you look in the right places...would make for a nice "little" project.
