not to spoil all the fun here but a jet ranger burns around 25-30 gallons per hour. Either than things got a big tank, or you cant go very far from home.

home is the interval between gas stops. it burns gasoline didnt he say?

is 25-30gallons per hour while the thing is mounted to a helo? id figure its about half that since you lost 70% of the weight

True, but it's not exactly moving around the same amount of weight as the Helo...

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it could burn any fuel.

I'm thinking that if you have 180k to burn on a bike gas prices are not going to be much of a concern  Wink

I don't think he was commenting on the prices of fuel as much as the range of the bike...

You can run turbines on many different types of fuel, this is true, although not necessarily ideal. It would probably run OK on pump diesel. True that its not lifting the weight of a helicopter, but it still burns ALOT of fuel even at idle and in low rpm range. I was commenting about its range.

I would have powered it with a Solar T62, puts out around 160 shp, burns roughly 12gph. Originally designed for a helicopter but used in a military generator since that project was scrapped by the government. One can be had for around $4k if you look in the right places...would make for a nice "little" project.  waytogo
