So, it's time for my 6000 mile duties.

I need suggestions for affordable and/or good mechanics within the Austin area.  I know Austin Ducati, obviously but, what others are there and are there better out there?

Thanks in advance.

I've heard really good things about AF1 in New Braunfels.  Seems I've heard DA has a pretty good mechanic now also though.  Personally I did my own 6k, so can't really tell you my own personal experience.

Do your own oil. Have Ducati Austin do your belts and the other checks.

I would trust the guys out at Rever Corsa to work on my bike. AF1 would be the next closest place. For this service, seems like overkill not to just have DA do it though.

You might give Roger a call at On Road/Off Road. He is south of the Y. I was most impressed with the work he did rebuilding the FD on my 1100RT....very upfront/no BS kind of a guy. He's a Monster owner and a real enthusiast. We struck up quite a conversation about Ducatis when I picked up my final drive. He has not worked on my Ducati personally but will definitely give him consideration come time. I hear he is one hell of a suspension guru as well. Maybe someone can speak from first hand experience.

Don Lackey is also one hell of a mechanic and did the 12k mile on my 748S. He's up on Nameless Rd in Leander. Very fair price and the bike ran like a top when I picked it up. Don is also a Ducati owner (996S I believe) and knows his stuff. Georgetown Powersports may have his contact info. I will have to dig to get it...been a while since he did the work on my bike.

These of course or independent mechanics if you feel comfortable with that. For belts and valves I don't think you could go wrong with either one but YMMV.
