Dark Horse Racing is volunteering to run ToR again this year, we are pitted on the second row in from the Start/Finish line. You cant miss us, we will have a ToR sign at our pits, and our Carolina blue race bikes.
We are also accepting volunteers to work corners during the ToR events. If you are interested in ToR but don't have a bike, or are not sure if you're ready for the track, you can volunteering some time and help us by working a corner! Anyone who volunteers to work a corner for us, can ride the next ToR for free! We will also be BBQing in our pits and will feed anyone who help's out.
NOTE, there are some new changes being incorporated into ToR, please read over the following: - At
NO point should any ToR participant pass the lead rider, he will be wearing an orange vest and be very visible. Please people, do not pass the lead bike, he is there for a reason. We will discuss this in more detail at the ToR riders meeting
- Max number of riders is now
30 - No sparky kneepucks, they look cool, but they are a serious distraction for someone who may not be expecting them, and could cause them to think you are actually crashing, and thusly, check-up and potentially crash, or cause a crash themselves. Please do not use them, if we see them, we will pull you off the track
- We are going to stagger the starts in hopes of avoiding the accordion effect going into T1 and T7. You will see someone waving 5 or so bikes onto the track at a time, then waiting a few seconds before sending the next wave
- Registration will now end 30 minutes before, or 15 minutes after the last track crossing, which ever is closer to lunch. We can no longer rush people through registration and bike tech at lunch time. This is not fair to those who were there early and are ready to get on the track. If you show up at the lunch time track crossing, you will be turned away, sorry. This means, if you arrive after the last track crossing, park your bike on the outside of the track, walk across the bridge to register without your bike, you will be turned away. We have a limited timeframe to complete ToR, and the number of people showing up at the lunchtime track crossing is getting to be to much for us to manage. Sorry
- Track Entry/Exit. Everyone should stage their bikes near the tower before ToR, that's where we have the riders meeting, so it makes the most sense to have your bikes there. The lead rider will bring everyone onto the hotpit. The problem we see has mostly to do with track exit. You basically have two options for leaving the track
First: Return to the inside pits - if its before the end of the ToR, raise your hand early on the back straight so anyone behind you can see your going to do something, slow down to a moderate speed without hammering your brakes. Enter T7 and ensure you have your hand up as best you can, hug the
INSIDE of T8 and T9 and come into the hotpit entry, there is an immediate exit there on your right. If its at the end of ToR, raise your hand and slow down and follow the bikes around and enter the hoptpit and take the immediate right into the inside pits. Remember, if you come back inside, you are stuck until the next track crossing
Second: Exit to the outside of the track - If its before the end of ToR, raise your hand early on the back straight so anyone behind you can see your going to do something, slow down to a moderate speed without hammering your brakes. Enter T7 and ensure you have your hand up as best you can, stay on the
OUTSIDE of T8 and take the access road at the beginning of T9. If its at the end of ToR, raise your hand and slow down and follow the bikes around and exit on the T9 access road. Please make sure you are not cutting in front of anyone returning to the inside pits when taking the access road.
DO NOT for what ever reason, come around T9 and turn around and take the drag strip! - Flags:
Red Flag: There has been an incident on the track, and we need everyone to raise their hand, get out of the throttle, and return to the hotpit cautiously (not the inside, or outside pits). Do not for any reason stop on the track to help someone. The hotpit is where we launched you in waves
Black Flag: If you see a black flag pointed at you, raise your hand to acknowledge that you saw the black flag, make sure while going down the back straight you raise your hand so anyone behind you knows your going to do something, slow down to a moderate speed, go around T7 and hug the inside of T8/9 and go into the hotpit and talk to the person at the start/finish line. If your in a group, everyone should come in. If you are not he bike they want to talk too, they will send you right back out onto the track
Checkered Flag: Everyone wins! ToR is over, reduce speed, go around the track and exit to the inside pits, or outside the track. Please refer to the above Track Entry/Exit for where to exit
- If a rider crashes, all other riders return to the hotpit area (where we start from) and wait for instructions. Two or more control riders will assist the downed rider. If the rider is ok, the bike cleared from any impact zones, and the track clear of any debris, we will resume ToR immediately. If the rider is not ok, or there is oil/coolant on the track that needs cleanup, ToR is done for the day. One of the control riders will ride the downed rider back to the pit area, and Blinky will get the bike after ToR is complete (unless he wants to sooner, remember this is his lunch period)
- Bike/Gear tech: If your gear, and or bike look questionable, we may not let you ride. Look at your gear, if it does not conform to the ToR guidelines, then you wont get to ride. Look over your bike, if its an older bike, make sure everything is secure, not leaking, etc.
If anyone has any questions, please post them here, or PM me directly.
Lastly, I want to thank OMRRA, our sponsors, and all the volunteers who help make this event happen!
Hope to see you there!
