well ya kinda have to admit it was cool of them to let you use the wheel in the first place while they ordered another.

Yes, it was good of them, although the bike had been sitting there waiting for the new wheel for 4 to 5 weeks by that point.  If I find out the service manager is trying to get me to pay for his mistake, any goodwill I have been feeling will be gone.

I think that I noticed on the 1198 that the wheels wre NOT Marchesini wheels.  I can't remember what they were, but I will check.

you shoudl be able to get a set of stock wheel for about $650USD

I dont know if they woudl fit , but this would look pretty cool

Powder the rims and hubs black and leave the spokes the stock...

and send it to one of the wheel straightening places. We use the Frame Man in Sacramento ca, often. no more than about $200.

I think 1500CAN is about $80 usd so it isnt that bad, Seriously tho, its too much.. Its a great thing the dealer did for you, but its not worth suckign up the wheel. Have them fit the new wheels for you, and get wheels elsewhere.. There is a company called Durani or something close that, $1500 USD for a pair of Magnesium wheels.

I called another Canadian Ducati dealer today, and he doubted that Ducati had switched manufacturers.  Since the brakes are by Brembo, and Brembo owns Marchesini, I would be surprised if Ducati is no longer using the Marchesini wheels.

I received a call from Ducati North America about 45 minutes ago in response to my e-mail to them on Friday.  They have changed manufacturers for their cast wheels.  The new manufacturer is Enkei, which appears to be Japanese.  Anyone know anything about them?

Enkei has been around FOREVER. I had some Enkei wheels on my 89 Corolla GT-S and my 96 240sx

A quick scan of eBay says that a Marchesini front wheel goes for 300-700USD.

I assume the 3-spokers are less expensive.  I'd say 275USD is a decent starting point. 

I'm sure if anyone disagrees, they'll speak up.

I have seen references online that they make the motorcycle wheels, but I can't seem to find a vendor.  It sounds like they have made wheels for Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha.

my 2C follow the previous advice and buy forged wheels, you'll be happier and have a custom look.

never heard of Enkei making moto wheels, but that's nothing new.  Maybe by making OEM's, they are trying to break in?  Enkei has always been known for quality cage wheels.
