Years ago I rode off with my forks locked.
Last time I tried that.
Nothing new for me, I've been riding around in circles for year.

how'd you start the bike if they were locked?
Old BMW's and Moto Guzzis (maybe more) had a separate key/lock on the side of the steering stem not related to the ign. switch. Done it more than once.

Some bike used to have the fork lock in a different spot than the ignition.
ding ding ding...
Back in the day...
they all had a separate lock for the forks.

I can't be bothered to use a disc lock anymore, but when I did, I'd always hook the pouch that it came in over the throttle as a reminder.

lol. with my old ninja, the beginning of every season was marked with my trying to ride off with the disc lock on. I always made it a foot before it tipped over!

I did something similar. My fender hasn't cracked through, but the best part was I did it in my own garage moving the bike around.
Bike lock in the garage? Kinda excessive don't you think?
I leave the key in the bike when it's in the garage sometimes.

I figure it can't hurt. Well, unless you count cracking fenders.

Dang, I'm surprised you guys managed to forget it and didn't get some bad damage. If you do use a wheel lock, put it just behind your brake calipers so that it doesn't have a chance to go full revolution before it catches. I took off with it on once and it broke my caliper mounts. I rode 3 miles with the caliper gouging my wheel before I realized it.

Moving my bike around in the garage with disk lock few years ago led to a warped rotors in time. Front braking would just shake the bike. Ended up replacing the rotors with alth rotors. Expensive mistake

No code, but go ahead and steel it. I can care less. That's what full coverage is for.
