yeah, maui-BI would make more sense from a time standpoint, but using oahu as the hub is probably the most sensible.

meds and a nap would take care of the sickness... I'd still be happy to do that in order to have my bike with me instead of ship the bike/fly there

I never could figure out how the Big Island route would work. It has got to be 150 miles or so from Honolulu to Kawaihae (big island port). Even if the ferry could do 30 knots (crazy fast) that's still 5 hours. I think you'd see a lot of  vomit

yupper. it was planned to be a 5 hour trip, and i would have gladly taken it.  alas.
