If you had to describe yourself as a Japan-bike person, which would you choose?

OK... I excuse the RC-51 as the only acceptable Honda, and a damn fine example of acceptance if I might add.  It's the only Jap bike that ever shook my innards like a Duc has.

i can't decide

i started on a sv, and have one now for the track...but as a brand (other models/racers/etc) meh.

For brand appeal, I've somehow always been drawn to yamaha.  The color scheme and looks of the r1/6 have always just moved me.  I like Rossi & Edwards and I'm gaining massive respect for Jorge lately.

Honda? meh...except for cafe'd out cb's & the rc51.

Yeah I hear that-the kill switches on Japanese bikes are *way* harder to find than those on a Ducati.

Ha......Ha........your a funny guy.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions.

Yep - I'd go with Honda.  I've always owned at least one (CB350/CB650SC/CL450).  By far the most smoothest of the japanese bikes (IMO).  I'd go for a VTR400 or an NSR250 - thanks  [thumbsup]

Honda ... Anyone who says Jap bikes don't have character after hearing / riding a gear driven cam'd VFR is out of their mind  ;D

I must be out of my mind.  The VFR I used to have is probably responsible for that.    [laugh]

I've always been a fan of Kawasaki but never owned one. I'm not sure why, maybe because they're a little different. :)

Pakhan

I voted for the Yamaha because I like the ergos of the R 6/1.

Also I get wood whenever I ride Grio's GB.

So does GB stand for Giant Bone?  Is there something that you and Grio want to tell us?  ;D

I've owned a lot of Hondas, but They all make good bikes. I might own a ZX600 pretty soon.
3 of My favorite bikes were Hondas though. The VFR with Gear driven Cams, The CR250 was pretty Boss, and the VTR 1000 I feel is highly underrated. This bike caused me to want real Ducati. Not some Highly reliable Bullet proof Japanese Knockoff of a Ducati. It made decent power and sounded awesome with those two brothers on. But Honda just ran the design into the ground by not updating it over it's ten year run. It was Fun though...

On the other hand I bought that CBR600F4 to go to the track with and Im kind of lukewarm about it. It's just a tool to go down the road on. Thats why I'm going to try this ZX600. Or it might just be inline 600's that don't do it for me I never rode one before this. I see getting some kind of twin for trackdays at some point.

I've always liked the big Zuka's my ol' GS1100e was a beast and I rode it like it was stolen everytime I got on it. THe engine always stayed strong even at 50k+ on the 25 year old aircooled engine. Unfortunately it became cost prohibitive when all the parts around the engine and tranny started wearing out, and hard to find.  :'( In a straight line I could roast newer "faster" bikes all day long. In the twisties though all that power and skinny tires, + poor suspension it looked like I was doing the Humpty-Dance on that thing.

I have only ever owned one Honda street bike. !983 750 Intercepter(Voted bike of the year). It had a recall on the cams. Lots of Honda dirt tho. I have owned plenty of Kawi's, Yami's & one Big Bore Suzi twin(The Suzuki/Davadison)

I think that they are all the same.
The 2006 Suzi M109R had a few things that needed to be taken care of. Leaky coolent hoses & fuel lines.
Inline 4s are inline fours. Different colors & different shapes.

A few other ppls mentioned the RC51  [thumbsup] [thumbsup] I almost bought one after I sold the 996 Bi-posta. I still like the RC51.
There is nothing wrong with "SOME" of the Jap bikes.
So,,,,,possibly A Kawi man. Yrs ago Yvon DuHammel raced for Kawi. I always cheered for the Green machines
