I just bought an 1198s to throw away in turn 9 at Sears next year.

9 again?  It just doesn't seem fair.  You have yet to show 1, 3, 4, 5, 10 or 11 some tiger love.

Congrats.   waytogo

At least we know where to stand now. We'll be out there with huge signs with giant arrows like in Forest Gump.

Hey, if you play your cards right they might homologate that for American Superbike. Then you can run the Sears round again!

BTW - Congrats!

Any scouting reports on the stock traction control system? Wondering if its noticable when used, but too primitive to make you faster. Almost a novelty...

It's an unknown quantity at this point.  It is superior to the 1098R Traction Control...  but that doesn't mean it's really workable.

I've crashed in 11.  End of 2004 AFM morning warmup.   [moto]

With that much power do you need a CR gear box?

All the more reason for a tall first gear.

If it's the same TC system as the Streetfighter (and I think it is) it comes on pretty subtly, even at a high level. Not at all like hitting the rev limiter or anything. I predict you'll like it more than you think you will.

That said, I don't think I'd just pin the throttle fully leaned over and trust it not to spit me off. You might be able to do that, I'm just not there yet mentally.

Oh, and the pic looks great - very badass bike.  waytogo

Yao-Zah!  Congrats on the new ride!  Hey, if you're going to throw it away anyway, send it this direction in the South Bay.

Congrats on taking the plunge Tigre! waytogo Like folks have said, half the paint job is done already so get some frickin' stripes. Grin

Now you've made DQ consider selling both his bikes--and getting his ass curbside--for an 1198. Thanks.

The big mods I've got planned are below.  Basically no plans for motor initially.  I'm hoping I can save some dough and run the termi ECU without getting a nemesis system.  That would allow me to run traction control.  I'd miss out on over-rev, but we'll see how the gearing works out on the bike anyway.

Chassis/suspension:
New triples
Revalve forks
"near" flat-rate linkage for shock
Revalve rear shock
Respring front/rear
16.5" rims

Other:
Slipper clutch

Motor:
Set squish
Set cam timing
Close-ratio gearbox

Yeah.  30 plus more HP.  What's the chance you'll need TC?   laughingdp

Just revalve the rear or go with a TTX?

Slipper?  Is that you need to replace the stock slipper or does it not come with one.  The latter would be weird.  Then again, if the point is to have a bike for WSBK homologation, then they could leave the slipper out and get to the desired price point.

Did Scott talk you out of carbon fairings?  Just get two or three sets of bodywork instead.

I will probably just re-valve for starters, and evaluate TTX down the road.

Doesn't come with slipper.

Scott talked me out of the carbon fairings.  That money is better spent on suspension, etc.
