a shameless plug aimed at ducati owners in the san francisco bay area ... we are starting a new DOC (desmo owners club) that is regional based (northern california), NOT model specific like the existing DOC's in the area (e.g.: sportclassic owners club, ducati monsters of bay area, mh900e owners club, vintage ducati club, st owners club, hypermotard.net).

SO, if you own ANY ducati, and are interested in track days, racing, wrenching, riding schools, destination rides, social events and charity events ... PLEASE check out the NorCal DOC. the web site is still under construction, and is @ http://www.norcaldoc.com

btw, i am NOT trying to steal members from the ducati monsters of bay area DOC (heck, i am not even sure if this still IS a DOC) ... you can be a member in BOTH clubs.  fwiw, all of the MOBsters i have gotten to know over the years are mondo cool people and hard core ducatisti, and would be great additions to ANY club.

a presto,
johnc

This sounds like something I would be interested in, unfortunately I have met you in person and want nothing to do with you and your "clubs"

 cheeky

Can you still join if you 'technically' have a ducati but haven't been on it for a while?

gee kaveh, that's not what you said the other night   Grin

update ... we have a newsletter registration form up now on the home page, that if you sign up, we will notify you when the membership registration form is up a running.

there will be NO COST to be a member of the DOC ... we will only require some very basic data that ducati wants each of the DOCs to gather on their membership base (name, address, bikes owned) ... this data WILL NOT be shared with any outside group other than ducati motor holding.

ciao,
johnc

Went back for consult with THE neurosurgeon on Monday. He wants to treat my injury as if he were treating a pro athlete... kind of refreshing to hear that from him. He understands my need to ride, as a mechanic and a bike geek, and feels that the procedure that was scheduled could have had very negative implications. bang head

We've decided to hold off for 30 days, then do some more imaging and see if the disk is stable enough to test the tissue integrity. If the tissue looks as though it may be compromised to the point where it will be problematic again, then we're going for the full meal deal... hello shiny new titanium spherical bearing in place of my decaying disk. Ain't technology cool! waytogo

The procedure, and recovery, may keep me off the bike for the rest of the season, but the long term outlook would be that I could go back to a normal routine life...well, normal for me...without any further worries. Unfortunately, to do the disk replacement, they have to cut in from the abdominal cavity instead of through the back. Small price to pay I guess.

I'm just glad I finally have a doctor who is open to my input and concerns, and doesn't want to jump to a conclusion until we've explored/exhausted all other options. I'm willing to endure some more pain and discomfort if it ultimately leads to the correct decision. Smiley
