Annual Denver trip...

So it looks like my annual trip to Denver to harass you bastages will be from Nov. 19th(possibly the evening of the 18th) through the afternoon of the 23rd.
Right now, I am not sure if I am going to drive out or fly out as I would like to bring my mountain bike with me and ride with Randy and Polly...
I am also looking for a place to crash (traditionally it has been at Randy's but I am not going to impose as his hospitality has already exceeded anyhing i could hope for).
Anyway, just wanted to put this out there early so folks can make plans for the fun filled adventure that *IS* Ryan's visit!

Would love to...but I would have a hard time finding a job that overpays as well as this job.

I'm in for festivities! I'd even be in for mountain biking (gotta get my fat ass in shape, though).
Shoot me an email if you have trouble finding lodging.

Well I decided I am driving out for this trip. Costs of flight versus driving is a no brainer. I will be leaving Wednesday afternoon and hoping to make it most of the way there before crashing at a rest area for the night then hitting Denver morning of Thursday.
Anyway, bump.

I drive from Denver to Omaha and back about 4 times a year. I don't know if you have ever driven it, but here are some unsolicited tips!
1. Do not speed through Ogallala.
2. Do not fill up for gas in Ogallala. I recommend North Platte. On my drive, North Platte is exactly in the middle of the drive, so it works for me. From Des Moines, you might be able to make it all the way to North Platte. If not, hit up Kearney. The small town/off highway gas stations have always been overpriced when I had to stop at them.
3. When you hit Colorado on I-76, there are no more rest stops like there are in Iowa and Nebraska on I-80. So, if you are planning on just sleeping in the car on the side of the road, you might have to do it in Nebraska. There is a rest stop just east of Ogallala, about 30 miles before you get into CO.

Z, it's only what, like 10-11 hours from Des Moines. You can't drive it in one shot? Load up on
and
and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the advice on NE...although, having tested 911 in every county in the state, I was well aware of Ogallala lol.
I most likely will do it in one fell swoop and just sleep a few hours once I arrive.
Still haven't heard from Maxi-pad so not sure if he is extending his traditional invite or if I have to stay with some other creepy old guy.

Throw in a bran muffin, and what better road-trip breakfast could there be?

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.
