The "turbo s2r" is a girls bike....

Seriously, Wayne and Todd built it for Wayne wife, Glenda. She wanted a turbo bike of here own to ride at there track events.

Those dyno sheets are from the 1st version of the bike, when the turbo was on the lower left side and still have leaks in the air-box.  Todd said he'd run some new ones when he gets a chance. The bike is set to only run 3psi of boost, it is Glenda's street bike...

Did anyone notice the lower engine fairing incases a custom water tank? The bike uses a custom made water injector as an anti-knock/cooling system.

Wayne's SuperSport (904cc) makes over 215Hp and there new 999 project should be over 300Hp. So I'm pretty sure they a lot more out of that 800, if they want to.

I think they built turbo Ducati, for the simple reason "they can". :-)

Why would anybody go to all that trouble to get 100 hp when any decent used 03 - 06 S4R will put out well over 100 hp at the rear wheel with no mods at all?

<devils advocate hat>
Why would you spend all that money on an 03 - 06 S4R when any '99 Japanese 600 will put out over 100hp at the rear wheel and it'll run faster top speed and corner faster?</devis advocate hat>

big (who can currently buy a brand new Hyosung with more power than my 11 year old Monster for less than I'd get selling even my 250,000km old Monster... But I'm not going too...)

Uh, he's probably right, or close to it.

Also, some carriers insure by CC, so the Japanese bike owuld be cheaper to insure, too.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I'd personally rather ride with and see a bunch of completely changed and modified bikes (of all brands) than a gaggle of completely stock ones, and I never got the 'for the same money you could have had_______' arguments.    Part of the fun is seeing what other people's interests in bikes are.

turbo s2r a girl's bike.  hahahahahaha.   oh the poor 620 riders now.   ;D
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

Sorry pal.  Not even make the beast with two backsing close.  The S4R/RS being very competitive with anything out there (in the right hands)?  This is not something I'm guessing about. Staying in front of present day 600's Jap bikes with very good riders on em is not just possible in my old feeble mind - been there, done that, got the tattoo.  And the ONLY place the 1000's can do it is after the turn is finished. In some places there is little substitute for HP - 130 can't compete well with 160 on a very long straight.  There's nothing "special" about me, I just can't let that shit go without at least a little defense. The bike weighs 420 lbs. full of gas, water and oil and makes 130 hp at the wheel (wish I could afford those wheels Statler's got). Live in the Blue Ridge Mts. and ride 1000 mi. a month and been doing it for longer than you've been alive.  I got socks older. ;D :o

Insurance cheaper?  My Kitted RS is a "cruiser" according to my insurance company - $350 per year for comprehensive coverage.  Try that with a 20 something on a current 600 cc sport bike. The coverage will cost more than the bike.

If you are lucky, some day all the young guns will think you are all washed up because you're old enough to be their dad. ;D

Love ya ...... mean it. [thumbsup] [moto] [thumbsup]

Okay for starters, no one is saying an S4R can't keep up with one of those bikes. Nor is that relevant. We're talking plain old specifications.

The bike most certainly does not weigh that, nor produce that amount of power. Keep in mind only the S4R was mentioned-NOT the S4Rs. According to

http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/ducati_monster_s4r_2006.php

We have a HP rating of 115. As far as I recall, Ducati currently measures at the crank, so the rear wheel sees less than that. The wet weight is not listed on that site, but going to http://www.sportrider.com/weights_measurements/146_motorcycle_weights_measurements/ducati.html

Will show a listed wet weight of 459 pounds for an '05 S4R.

Let's compare that to a 1999 Japanese bike. The YZF-R6 (600CC) http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_yzf-r6_1999.php

Shows a HP rating of 120HP (where the rating is I don't know, but assuming the lesser amount of at the crank, it still produces more than the Duc). The weight listed 430 pounds.

So, more horsepower, less weight, a good several years before the S4R.

I don't see how your age is relevant, but for god sakes, buy new socks.

Like I said-it depends on you're insurer. Previous ones I've had based it SOLELY on CC. AKA power to weight didn't matter. Which is why I stated it's possible ones insurance could go down, especially with the fact that a 1999 vintage as I referenced, would be much older than any S4R, and far less valuable.

Yes, I'm that bored.  [cheeky]

Sorry, I guess that's a little too much bravado even for me.  Sent you a PM explaining what I meant.

The 600 was rated differently and didn't make more power or weigh less.  Almost identical specs with the 03 s4r actually. I looked it all up too.  Can't sleep.  [coffee]
