Help me Hot-Rod my 750

Here are my ideas:

695 heads (polished and radial valve cut)
39mm Kiehin flatside carbs
FbF big bore kit 750-785 (with 11:1 pistons)
Custom headers based on 900 racing equal length 2 into 2 design

Anybody got any other ideas?

Anybody done any of this already?  If so what sort of gains did you get? What pit-falls should I watch out for?

Heat.  It's going to a good bit hotter.  Between the bore up and higher comp you might need more cooling.

But... What about getting a carby 900 engine to swap in then take it from there?  A 900 carby probably won't run you too much more than the big bore kit.  Then you get MORE displacement for the base... 
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

+1 on the 900. plus you get a dry clutch.

Quite a lot of work to get it up to what a bone stock 900 with slipons makes...

Like other people are saying - unless you're doing this for the sake of the project, hot-rodding a 750 motor isn't a particularly (financially) sensible idea...

I'd be fascinated to see what you ended up with after your suggested list of mods, but I suspect the sort of money your talking can be more economically turned into horsepower by finding a 900 motor to start with.

If you have an early 750...with the clutch slave in the right side cover...

they're not the best candidates for building as the cases were a bit weak.

Did the 750s have that? I've only ever seen that on a 600...

Maybe I am asking the wrong question

let's say you had a really custom 750. (duc painter paint, new frame powder coat...new powder coat on pretty much everything...tons of mods & parts, but no engine work done at all). And let's say you had $5000 to spend on it, you know you should spend anything else on it but your going to anyway.  What would you do?

Hmm well - you could start dumping weight in addition to the engine and fueling mods you list.

Make sure to smooth and polish the intake runners
DS heads the heads?
Adjustable cam pullys
Have the crank out, cut polish and rebalanced.
CF Wheels?
Light fly wheel?
Flash brakes+masters (999 for example if you have 65 mm mounts)
If not done to date, Ohlins rear and something for the forks.

'05-'06 S2R800 motor w/41mm Keihin's and spend the remainder on suspension & wheels.

You'll need to adapt the Ignitech box to your existing coils (or upgrade to Dyna coils) and you'll have to deal with the 10mm engine bolt holes in the frame and the 12mm hole in the cases, but after that, she's a bolt-in.

('05-'06 motors have the slipper clutches, 6-speed boxes and 8mm valve stems (the 7mm ones are really hard on split rings))

$5000. Well, you might want to find a salvage bike and pull the engine/trans. You could probably even have the new engine reworked.
08' S2R 1K   That was close  damn near lost a $400 hand cart.

I am seriously thinking, leave the monster pretty but slow and buy a 996 for$5-6000.00.

There is one in town (StL) with 14k owned by our local service tech, FbF exhaust and chip, otherwise no mods $6600 and there is one in Nashville 22k heavly moded for $5000.00

If I dump the $ in the monster I will never get it back; whole new bike might be a better option.
