i have a 2009 monster 1100 and am interested in the termignoni slip ons with the ecu and air cleaner. how much louder than stock will they be? i want the bike to be more noticeable to cars on the road  , and what kind of performance gain can i expect. thanx.

You will probably get more answers to your questions in the Accessories & Mods forum.

The termis will definitely be louder than stock, especially if you take the baffles out; an open airbox will also increase the noise.  However in my personal opinion that won't make you much more noticeable to traffic. Undecided

I don't know specifically about performance gains on the 1100; on my 695 the DP ECU smoothed out the curve so I no longer have a dip midrange in the RPMs waytogo.  There will also be a slight improvement from the weight reduction.  My ECU didn't change my top HP.

It definitely sounds more like a proper Duc... but I agree that it won't really get you much more of the attention that drivers are paying to texting and not ending your life... I say go for it, but don't try to justify the expense with the 'loud pipes save lives' line.  Now, loud clutches - those do save lives  Wink

the noise blows behind you and so the cars that can kill you by cutting you off or taking your lane will not hear you. because of my experience, i recommend that you be ready for a DP ecu and dyno tune ($$$). the performance is signifigant on my bike and i suspect you will also notice a game changer in the HP and torque  [moto]

what is a dp ecu and dyno tune?

tuning a ducati is primitive and IME playing with the exhaust system is playing with fire. if she doesn't run well then you may have to step it up with a power commander and dyno tune.

it may be different for your bike (i'm no expert, just going by experience) but with the old monsters if you wanted the power commander to fix the lower rpm and throttle position you needed the ducati performance ecu.

my bike was doing some sputtering and stalling before i had this done. it's been running like a dream - super smooth - after the dyno tune. you can try the slip-on and may be OK. i just wanted to let you know what to do in case things go wrong or if you wanted max performance.  Evil  good luck

your sound will be much,much louder and,believe me,other drivers,especialy in the city will notice you!
and that is real ducati sound,go for it !

This bike has teh full termis, which has a bigger pipe. Not sure how that translates into sound, though? I have teh same set up, minus the baffles, and it's loud enough for me. When lane splitting, I feel bad for those with their windows down. For those who close in the lane, I give them a little extra love when I pass by.  Evil

My bike is measured at 95dB with the dB-killers - 105dB without. (at 5,000 revs, 4' behind/side the bike)

When you're inside a car you're hearing typically about 80dB (I think).

So, if standing just behind a Ducati at 5,000 revs is "a lot" louder than being inside a moving car - you can perhaps imagine the "improvement" going from killers to no killers (another 10 from 95 to 105)

Ah another 1100 owner itchin' to spend more...be warned the more you scratch the more you itch Grin. I was ordering parts even before the bike arrived.

I have an 1100 and installed the termis slip-ons and ECU. You will definitely need to have a Ducati mechanic with a DDS set the F/A mixture after the install. So figure that into your budget.
The 1100 is a bit louder with the termis but IMHO it is mostly deeper and more throaty. It certainly sounds better to me.
I took the baffles (db killers) out for a few days and then reinstalled them. WAY LOUD. I kinda liked it but I like my neighbors too & live at the top of a hill. I just didn't want to be "that obnoxious guy with the red bike"
Truthfully, I didn't notice any real "performance" gains like faster or more power with the termis. The bike did seem to run smoother though.
My favorite performance gain to date come with the 14t front sprocket. That provided a NOTICEABLE difference. Cheap too.  waytogo
