I'm visiting Houston for the next week for work and would like to catch up with the local gang. Staying in the Reliant Park / Rice University area.

Pointers for meetups, regular hangouts, restaurants, and so on are welcome and appreciated!  waytogo

ah, that's a shame!  I'll be in NY/NJ next week!

For starters, this week and next week are Houston's Restaurant Week, so take a look at the pre fixe menus and book something! http://www.houstonrestaurantweek.com/

I'm sure at least some folks will be able to get out on wednesday for rudyard's and I'll see what other stuff might be going on for you a bit later in the week.

last week was Summer Fest (music festival) and Houston's Shakespeare Festival at Miller Outdoor Theater (both were fantastic), I'm sure there's something going on next week, just need to do a bit of research

Definitely check out restaurant week.  There's a reason we're all overweight in Houston!  I'm unavailable on Wednesday but am up for a meet sometime next week.  Monday? Thursday?

The local Duc group meets up at Starbucks (Westpark+Buffalo Speedway) on Thursdays.
I want to say 7 or 7:30p.

Just found out that the flying saucer in downtown is going to have their 9th anniversary party starting at 2pm on sunday, 16th.  going to be opening up 9 rare beers for the event and it's in a great location with a great crowd.  I know it's a chain, but really, it should be a really good time and if you get bored you can walk down to two of houston's long time institutions, Dean's Credit Clothing and notsuoH

It's not a regular meetup, so I don't think anyone's planning on being there tonight.  I can't make it but if you can convince some others to show up, you might get a crowd...

Sorry, can't make this one.  Been too busy lately.

Not sure how much longer you're going to be in Houston, but I might be able to make a meet next week if we can get one organized.

The meets are usually on Wed. or Thurs., and at Rudyard's or where the majority agrees.
But there hasn't been a recent one since everyone seems to be busy one way or another.

We'll have to plan better in the future. I'll be returning again soon because of a convention I'm arranging for this October. Will post up again.
