Thankfully it was malfunctioning

I jumped on my bike to run down the hill to change it out and the clip broke

it hit the ground returned to its base elements

Lost the registration for my bike. In a pocket unzipped. Almost lost the disc lock on the highway. Fell out of the pouch and was dragging behind the bike! The little bungee was stuck to the pouch. I probably dragged it for 2 or 3 miles. Still works though!  laughingdp

I've never lost anything of my person, but I have lost numerous parts off of my bike. Seat latch, plastic side things, various nuts, bolts etc.

The bolt/pivot that holds the shifter lever.

On the highway in stop-and-go, shifted up into 2nd and it felt a little weird, shifted up again and it went into 3rd but I couldn't feel the lever.  Looked down and it was hanging on by the linkage rod.  Luckily I was in 3rd which is a pretty versatile gear and I was able to think of a route home that didn't pass any stoplights or stop signs.

Unluckily it took 3 weeks to get another bolt.

and one more- gas.
leaving the gas station, did a little wheelie (seeing a trend here?  Roll Eyes)
gas cap wasnt sealed all the way and dumped a cup or two of gas right into my crotch
it was really cold, and then i was stinky at work all day  Grin

Just lost my personalized plate last Sunday.  I have drove past where it fell off on the freeway and can't see it anywhere.  If I can't find it I have to get a different personalized plate or go to a random one. :[  They won't let you get the same one if it's lost or stolen.

I also lost my battery and battery mount from my Hellcat. The mount catastrophically failed from stress and poor design and dropped off the bike on the freeway at about 75.  I ran it over and almost looped the bike in the process.  I popped up and the bike went to about 45 degree angle from my original direction of travel.  The engine kept running which was nice but I needed to get a tow back home.

Ahh, Ducati must have placed the 696 battery where it is so that this doesn't happen to you again. There's no way that sucker's going anywhere.

Think he's talking about a Confederate Hellcat. And that's a scary ass story.

Yes, I understood that part. Was just joking that Ducati must have known about the Hellcat and this is the reason why it's so much fun for 696 owners to get to their batteries now.   Smiley

I lost my left rear turn signal. Found out later that my GF accidentally snapped it off while getting on..  bang head Some of the plastic bits on these 696 are so damned fragile.

The turn signal thing has been a problem on Monsters since day one, not just the 696...
