Whoops!
I lost the seat cowl on my S4 after I failed to completely tighten down the screws...like that's never happened before.

An 80 gig Ipod doing 80mph on the freeway. Foolishly pushed it only halfway into my front pant pocket. Looked back and saw the thing bounce numerous times on the pavement. Didn't bother turning around.
Today, the screw that holds the clutch fluid reservoir to the handlebar extension piece. Just riding along and suddenly the little pod starts flappin around. Bizarre.

I had to bring a couple of posters back to the office from a conference (not sure why my boss didn't take them, as he had a car and knew I was on the bike
).
Anyway, I placed them in a poster tube, bungeed that several times to the top of my tailbag, and set off.
I kept checking in my mirrors - poster tube's still there, great.
I got onto the San Mateo bridge, and not long after I got up to speed (~75 mph), some car pulled alongside me, window open, the driver trying to tell me something.
I pointed to my ears and shook my head, "I can't hear you". He started pointing to the back of my bike.
I looked in the mirrors, still saw the poster tube, shrugged. He motioned to pull over to the shoulder.
After I stopped and got off my bike, I saw the issue. The lid to the poster tube had come out, one poster was completely gone, and the other was halfway out. Oops!
The driver, who also pulled over, then told me exactly where on the bridge I could find the other poster. Ummm, there's no way I'd go back for that.
I somehow managed to secure the one poster and made it into the office without further incident.
I handed the damaged poster to my boss and told him it was his fault for not taking them himself. Luckily, he had a good sense of humor about it.

Had a chatterbox unit in my jackt pocket, hit a bump, pulled over to turn around to get it, watched as SUV ran it over..
Lost an ez-pass it was attached to the font fairing had it when I got on the turnpike, but when I got to the exit noticed it was gone...pulled up to one of the cash toll booths and told the lady I don't have a ticket because I had an ez pass, when I got on...thankfully she was very nice and did not charge me any more than the normal toll...they are suppose to charge you the toll from the 1st exit which would have been a lot more if you don't have the toll ticket...crazy state of NJ have to make money where ever they can.

That's Comedy right there.
Lost my sunglasses, left 'em on the plastic D-ring on my tankbag.
Felt 'em hit my hip, but didn't think much of it as I was riding next to a line of very tall Eucalyptus trees.
Until my girlfriend pulled next to me, and motioned I'd lost my glasses.
Luckily, they were nothing special.

Beeper ?? wow u still have one
Either a Doctor or a dealer
Yup, one of those.
Cell phones don't work reliably around here, including at my house. I'd love if I could get rid of the beeper (e.g., by hurling it off the bike at highway speed) but the damned thing keeps returning to haunt me.

one of the bolts to my kickstand.
guess how i found out...
I lost one of the 2 bolts for my kickstand on my old 900 SS/SP. Twice.
Guess how I found out?
First time it happened I was in the middle of nowhere, stopped to assist a broken down minivan (there was no cell coverage - remember, nowhere) and when my kickstand wouldn't hold the weight of my bike, and after my initial thought was "my kickstand must be in a pot hole". My buddy helped the family out. We then stopped to get something to drink and instead found the closest home depot. After another hour we get there, get a 2 pack of screws and borrow a wrench.
A week later, that screw took off on me on the freeway at about 11 PM. I had to go back to my office where the other screw was, park the 900 against the wall and get the screw. Some red loctite later fixed that issue.
I also lost a hat. When I first started riding, I didn't know the trick to actually putting stuff in your jacket so I would sit on it. I stood up on my pegs to straighten my pants without thinking and off it went.

oh heres another one.
I was riding and about to get on the highway, when i felt something hit me on my right shin. it actually hurt a bit, and i rode foward a bit, and half way into a turn i striaghten up and pull over on the emergency lane. I got off my bike and checked my pockets, everything was there. i looked down at my bike...
i lost my clutch post.
but i guess it doenst count cause i found it 2 days later laying on the curb.

I also lost my battery and battery mount from my Hellcat. The mount catastrophically failed from stress and poor design and dropped off the bike on the freeway at about 75. I ran it over and almost looped the bike in the process. I popped up and the bike went to about 45 degree angle from my original direction of travel. The engine kept running which was nice but I needed to get a tow back home.

I lost my left rear turn signal. Found out later that my GF accidentally snapped it off while getting on..
Some of the plastic bits on these 696 are so damned fragile.
