Its time for new tires ;D

What size socket do I need to get the front axle bolt off? I finally have a front stand so I can do it myself instead of taking the whole bike in.

If it makes a difference, I have an 04 620.

Is your's the allen bolt axle?  If it's like the '99 750, you release the pinch bolts on the fork leg on the nut side.  The you use a 14mm allen socket to spin the axle out ~

No, not the allen bolt style. It has a regular nut, the biggest thing I have is 27mm, and that is too small.

Thanks!

If it's the nut style I think it's a 28mm.
You loosen the pinch bolts on the nut side and then remove the 28mm nut, then loosen the pinch bolts on the opposite side and push the
axle through.

A 1 1/8" inch socket got it off for my 07 S2R 800.  I would NOT recommend using the SAE socket when reinstalling it, though.

But, if no one else can get the size to you and you've got free time...at least you can go, nut in hand, to see what socket does fit before your spare time is gone.

And, if you find out, please post it so I can go buy one too. I haven't had time to get to NAPA or Sears.

1.125 inch socket = 28.57mm hence.....

You need a 28mm socket.
The nut is very thin, so a socket that's *close* isn't a good idea, like big ed said.

Might as well get a 30mm for the back, too, while you're at it. ;)

Thanks, I knew someone would have the answer.

I've already got the 30mm.

Sears should have em.
Of course, the day that I needed one 2 weeks ago, 28mm was the 1 size they were out of, so I had to buy a set of 6 sockets....4 of which I already had. hah.
