Had an exciting failure on my way to work yesterday ,
took off out of the drive way gave it some into second and she kept going and going up to max revs.
Managed to hit the kill switch pulled over with the throttle feeling notchy , restarted after pulling the cable back down towards the injectors then having to control the fuel with the end of the cable under the tank , limped home.
Ducati roadside assist picked her up this morning , report from Northside is the cable has frayed and partially snapped up at the grip.
This is only 11 months old ,Mechanic said very unusual glad it didn't happed at high speed the other week up on the Old road  Shocked
Covered by warranty and should have her back on Saturday applause .
Anyone else experience this or is this a very random event ?

Holy crap Dez, I never want that to happen to me.
In fact I am lubing my throttle cable this afternoon.
Happy it didn't happen in heavy traffic or as you say out the other weekend.

I've had a throttle cable snap:

but it "failed safe" and wouldn't come up off idle rather than holding the throttle open.

Oh, and it happened after 10 years and 230,000km, not within a 12 month warranty...

There's gotta be more to _that_ story!

That's not _just_ a frayed throttle cable.

Yeah Matty it was peak hour arvo traffic  pulled out of my driveway(main road) into a gap and gave it a good old twist , sphincter puckering moment but strangely enough kept a clear head and didn't end in tears so all good.
p.s. seem to have sorted the cornering wide issue with the new tyres and your advice on apex timing thanks chug
