well, there is such a thing as IWB holsters (inside waist band), and a very acceptable form of concealed carry.

some pistols have a clip option to carry it there holsterless.

Absolutely true. The decision that the pedestrian was partially responsible was a finding of law, not a fact.
I think if you're going to compare crimes, especially to make the argument that 2 years is too harsh, you should use Vick. He knowingly took part in an illegal activity that resulted in the deaths of unknown numbers of dogs over a period of =/- 5 years, and got just about the same amount of time.
