ok truly frustrated [bang]

I purchased a new fuel pump from ca cycleworks, replaced my old one and nothing!!!! I traced the power coming into the fuel pump system and found I wasnt getting any power to the fuel pump so i traced the wires and found poor soldering (as well as a defective resin in which they were encased; the resin was actly crumbling off when i touched it) on the wire that enter into the tank (3 of the 4 were actly dislodged from their connectors, the only thing that was keeping them from touching each other was the resin in which they were encased. I resoldered the wires and re encased the wires in a new resin. reconnected everything and presto!! the pump kicks in. while i was here i reinstaled the old fuel pump and low and behold it works too!!! (while i was here i went ahead and put the new pump in). I reassembled the unit (triple checked all leads and connections) and reinserted the unit back into the tank, I connected all the lines and fired her up and now im getting a puttering then stall. I hear thee pump kick on. but now im stumped [bang]. My duck is starting to piss me off!!!!!

Your bike doesn't seem terribly old. ...Possibly you have a short some where which originally caused the to resin to deteriorate and the solder to partially melt, an its reoccurring?

Do you have constant 12V to the new pump (with the key on)? If so put the old pump back in and see what happens.  The new pump is possibly DOA or the wrong one.

I believe the  deteriorating was caused by spotty materials the solder initially wasnt soldered in properly which caused the wiring connection to fail.I tested both pumps and they work fine, when I turn the key I can hear the pump start up. I took out the spark plugs and I can smell the gas and I see [gas] on the plugs so i know fuel is entering the chambers. I checked voltage and im getting current to the pump so thats not my prblm now. It seems im not getting any spark to the plugs. I pulled out the wiring diagram and now im chasing an electrical gremlin [evil] (someone mentioned a relay, does anyone know where its located on the 07 monster??? as i've said ive been trying to trail it down with the diagrm but all the wires are covered up).I havent really had that much time with my bike to do any mods with it so its all stock. I really enjoy my bike but this is really frustrating ??? esply on a bike that is a couple of years old. It seems everything happens after the warranty expired,..hmmmm

The relay howie mentioned is controlling the pump so if you have power at the pump the relay is working.  Have you changed the fuel filter yet?
