Cedar Rapids (Where Mitt lives): Approximately 100 blocks are flooded in downtown Cedar Rapids. The waters are nearing the tops of of the stop signs. Insane as it currently looks like Venice waterways and not an Iowa city of approximately 124,000 people.

Waterloo/Cedar Falls: Downtown flooded...

Iowa City: Levels are supposed to exceed the flooding of 1993. There are several areas of the University of Iowa that are or will be under water.

Des Moines: The city just asked for voluntary evacuations of an area called the 500 year flood plane. When it flooded in 1993, they were calling it a 100 year flood. They are predicting the waters will crest at the top of the levees in many areas of the city and the area near my parents house will be topped by about a foot of water which is going to greatly increase the chances of levee breaches.

I have been to pretty much all of those areas in Chad's pictures. It's amazing to see.

The State Hwy 17 bridge at the north end of Saylorville Lake is usually 60 to 70 feet above the surface of the water. The waters are currently about a foot below the bottom of the bridge.

Ironically, While Mitt and others are drowning, we're under a fire watch here in southeastern VA.
There are two fires in N.E. North Carolina, one in the Great Dismal Swamp, that are sending clouds of smoke over our area.
Not that I would trade places, but we could really use some of that rain.

Beautiful sunny day..of course, after all my guests are here and gone these past few weeks.   Undecided

Oh well..I had a good time riding through downtown Seattle Hooligan-style.  That exhaust note sounds SO good in the building-lined streets!!   Evil

Levee broke in my parents neighborhood on Saturday morning.

But out of the state, Cedar Rapids got it the worst. While our flood levels were higher than what we saw in 1993, this time our levees held and we didn't lose water and power for 12+ days.
