Long time reader....first time poster.....So I just happened to read the plastic tank forum and went outside to check my bike (2007 695D) and noticed that my tank is warped/expanded...Would you guys happen to know if SS covers this under the 5 year emissions warranty or not?

Will i was wondering if there are any down sides to removing the baffle plate (i think that is what they are called) on my stock mufflers.i read that it will help reduce the heat under the seat a lil bit and it will also help the engine breath a bit better. plus it will also make the bike sound throatier. i know termis are the way to go but mods that cost money are on hold for a while. the arrows in the pic are pointing to what i am referring too in case baffles are not what they are called. so any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If those stock cans are anything like the ones from my old S2R (and I believe they are) then there is a lot more than just removing a plate. My old cans had a "three chamber" gas routing system that had the exhaust gasses going back and forth through the cans at different directions. You can core them out (do a search for exhaust coring), but you will need a drimel, a few hours, a couple of friends and several beers.

for enough beer, i'm willing to take a dremel to just about anything.
and, unlike others, I can cut a straight line

it will sound louder,
if you remove the cats then that would lower the temp.
but as far as performance increase on a lambda system(closed loop) i doubt any better, probably worse.
the dp kit is all about the ecu, the pipes alone are only a small part on these new E3 bikes.

+1 on what Will said. You are better off just getting a slip on kit with the ECU. Termis are great. You could also run Arrows, Yoshimuras or Akros, all without the ECU and see how that goes. Won't be as good as with the DP ECU but would still improve things a small bit. No matter what, stock or not, the 848 has nothing on the 999 in terms of heat on your butt and right thigh.

Or the Daytona. That thing would roast your ass!!
But like Mac and Will stated, you will only get the noise if you only core the pipes. It will sound better, but the ecu will still try to lean everything out, especially at lower rpms. If I were you, I would go rob a bank (you look local enough, you will get away with it in this state) and buy a set of Zard slip ons and tune it up with Nemesis system.
