That's what I thought too, due to abandonment, and that's what the USPTO lists also.

Apparently, such a discussion a la 40 year old virgin, will turn up 44.5Million hits:

I guess my sarcasm was lost. The fact that their name shortens to SSR doesn't infringe.

Searching for SSR will give you literally dozens of matches. And Ducati SSR is technically "DEAD"

http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4004:c3c6io.2.1

you are correct on the first point, but the second point sort of -- the US registration is dead because they moved it to an WIPO registration in 2005 -- plenty of companies have been doing that because the maintenance is easier..  we usually recommend a simultaneous registration but both are enforceable in the US under Madrid.. .

however, i did not say i believed it infringed, i was merely making an observation since they sell Ducati race-related items and use the SSR letter logo.

i think one could make an argument that it infringes, mainly because they prominently display Ducati items, but i don't know if it would prevail.

either way, i don't care, it was just an interesting connection.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Ok, so I got the reverse shifter, and installed it last week (not very difficult). The shifting felt very crisp when I tried it by hand. Didn't have time to ride then, so I had to leave it in storage for a week. I tried riding today, and that confirmed what I had already feared when I looked at the lever: with the stock rearsets, the shifter peg is veeeeeery short. The stock rearsets are placed outwards quite a lot, so you have to make a very funny angle with your ankle. Really awkward. I'm gonna have to see what I can do by changing the position of the lever a bit, but I'm not too optimistic. I tried rotating it down a bit, but I got some interference with the kickstand when shifting the lever downwards. Maybe finally a good excuse to order me some new rearsets? Smiley

Here's a (crappy cellphone) pic (and yeah, the bike's dirrrrty!):

Anyone have (other) experiences when combining with stock rearsets?

I noticed this too from the pics on SSR's site, which is why I held off on purchasing.  Maybe you can try finding a longer toe peg?  Undecided

Yeah, I was thinking about machining a new toe-peg, but I guess that'll take me a couple of weeks. Too bad ... Cry

They make two sizes, the one they recommend for the monster is the shorter one, maybe you could return it for the SBK one?

It's the toe peg that's too short, not the shifter.

I thought they meant the shifter itself was shorter, not the toe peg?

If you can find one that CC used to make for the 749/999, it had a bend to go around the body work. This will put the toe piece at a much more prefered angle. Good luck trying to find one.  Wink

Looks very nice! Is that bent outwards, or only downwards?

Both. It was made to go out and around the bodywork on the 749/999. CC was the only one to make one like this.
