Ever have one of those days? Mom was there to watch... so it was bound to be great.

Start and first 7-8 laps were uneventful. My memory of the next bits are still hazy so.... anyway...

Coming down straight away... I think Salmi passes me on the inside of T1 on the brakes... I remember slowing down when I pull behind his line... and thinking... ha ha... I am carrying more corner speed than Salmi... of course I slowed down instead of taking the pass back... after all... he was lapping me... and this is my first year.... I try to hang on to his tail through two... and get wide.... more speed than I am used to... heading into 3, I see Kevin coming around my outside... and I am still running wide but he has way more speed and passes with ease... then I watch as he comes in and I drift out... this is where a veteran would lean over further... or slightly ease off the throttle... and a rookie does what I did... watch and think, "Damn this is going to hurt." His tire clips my front wheel and I go from a lean into T-3 to a high side... bike lands on my leg and we slide across the pavement and when we hit the dirt it bounces off of me and I roll over to a stop... I remember kicking the bike at one point and praying that it doesn't land on me again... when I stop moving, I blink and look around.
In the grass. Check
Not in harms way. Check
All my bits are still attached. Check.
Okay... time to get up.

I walk over to Blinky and he smiles and points out that he knew I wouldn't make it a season without talking to him.

I ride back, sitting on my bike, in the back of the little red truck.

As I pull into the pits.... my dad says, "Here comes Ryan." My mom says, "That's not him, his leathers were black... those are brown."

Ah.. the joy of racing.  Grin

Wind screen, rear spool, right rear set / brake lever (could be bent back??), bars may be bent or just push in (not sure), and some minor cracks and scars in the fairings... the bike slid mainly down the track on my leg... so it did well... looks like it may be a bigger gear repair cost than bike... tore up the sleeve on the leathers... shattered the carbon fiber in the knuckles of my gloves (which really took the impact and absorbed it... cause my hand feels fine)... boots are fine... brand new shoei probably needs replacing.... oh well. Gear works.

Not sure about the spine protector... they have crumple zones... but don't know how to tell if she has been crumpled or not.

nice job this year Ryan, sorry you had to end it on a crash.  Overall tho, I think you improved a ton!

You needed to pain your bike a new color anyways, right.  :p

Yes.  Get it looked at.  Generally there are shorter waits at urgent care places than emergency rooms.  Since your memory is hazy I'm guessing you bumped your head too.  Get it looked at but you may have a concussion.  Usually no biggie, I've had 6.

Dainese back protector?  That's a one shot item.  Other brands are different, some are one shot some are more.  You can usually mail it to the manufacturer for inspection if you have doubts.  Don't take the word of the guy at the shop.  Ask me how I know.

I'm really glad the bike and the leathers took the damage and you're mostly alright.  Helmets are cheaper than CT scans.

I rode to work today... it felt nice to take it easy and relax and feel the cool rain come down. There is something to be said about relaxed riding. (Of course the bike is out there getting rained on now.)

Things are sore. I did see a doc last night. Cracked elbow bone... or whatever that thingy that covers the elbow joint is called... always thought of it as the "funny bone"  Grin  Bruised tail bone, bruised hip, bruised right leg, bruised left arm, bruised right elbow, pretty much sore all over... and my neck is killing me from the whiplash of hitting the head on the pavement. Nothing actually broken and nothing inside wrong. I felt like it was a wasted doctor visit... stupid thing.... Doc asks if I need drugs... I say, "Nah... I feel fine." She shakes her head at me.... 5 minutes later... driving home... I am thinking, "why the hell did I say no!!"  bang head

Nothing that a good Chuck day wouldn't solve though.  waytogo  Mmmm.... boobies

I think she is ready to ride now... under $80 in total so far... still need a wind screen... but all is well.... however, now I need to replace some riding gear. It's a nasty trade off... have the bike land on you... and save the bike, but screw your gear... or have the bike hit the pavement hard... ruin more parts... and still screw your gear.   Grin   Either way... get offs are not as fun as getting off.  Evil
