He suggested it was better that I just dish out the extra cash and by a new master for a hundred bucks.
Being a cheap guy with an older Ducati that isn't worth a whole bunch, this answer makes me feel that I can just live with a slightly soft clutch and front brake.

I'll have to ask around about experiences with rebuilding the master cylinders.
