umm, you fall down.  [bang]

the good news is the bags acted kind of like frame sliders. (yes, i was on the triumph) [thumbsup]

what had happened was...
it had been drizzly all day, oil patches were all over the road on the way home.
going through a turn that i know is slippery so i slowed way down. one thing i am very afraid of is high traffic roads during a light rain. the oil just sits there and doens't wash off.
i mist have hit an oil patch or something because suddenly my rear wheel was spinning. i let off the gas and it just kept sliding. i straightened up and tried to bring it in line, but the front slipped and i was going sideways. i gave it a touch of gas to get it in line and moving in a direction other than sideways. i'm fairly certain that would work on the XR, but it didn't work on the sprint.  :P the front went and i fell off.

my left ass cheek is going to be sore, but i'm fine. just pissed off.

though the ladies that came running out of the house at the exit of the curve, who's curb i happened to come to a rest on, offered to take me out and get me drunk.  [thumbsup]
the downside to that is i am fairly certain they would have expected something in return. i'm not ramases so 50 yr olds didn't do it for me  ;D

now for the damage pics.

something seems to be missing here.....

Oh man, that is no way to practice sliding.  Glad you came out of it OK even if the bike didn't.

Sorry man to hear about the slide / crash.

I was riding one day and came to a stretch of country road where a rain storm had just past.

The road was wet and slippery as riding on a gravel road.

I really had to slow way down until I got back on dry pavement.

I don't ride if there is rain in the forecast but this was a unexpected pop up storm.

Glad your spill wasn't worse.

the really sad part is i ride down that road every day on my way home from work.
i have ridden down in in snow, sleet, freezing rain, everything.
it's always a slippery corner, today it just got the better of me.

that's ok, the ego is being mended by booze  [thumbsup]

Shame about the scraping. It'll "add character."

Good show on coming through it (mostly) unscathed. [thumbsup]

i had a sprint st.  you're looking at about $500 for the fairing and $1000 bucks for new luggage unless you can find them cheaper on ebay or don't care to replace them at all.
