We've been watching the funeral all morning.  Just amazing.   He was a great man and did alot for Massachusetts and for the people of the US.  My wife had the honor of meeting him several times over health care issues due to her work.  When ever she came home from meeting him she would go on for days what an amazing man he was....  I had the opportunity to meet him once and I blew it off....  I regret it now.

We went to a reception buffet with several congressional leaders, among them Teddy.  By the time we got in though, the entire buffet was cleaned out.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I watched the Memorial last night, it was absolutely fantastic.  Instead of watching the funeral I attended the health care rally at Times Square.  RIP Ted :'(

I suppose a word of desent about his character would suddenly make this "political".

I just hope the Chinook they use to haul his ginormous corpse around isn't paid for by my tax money.

I feel bad for his family.

I feel happy for our country.

Maybe he championed causes because he truly believed he was doing good.... but, the more I learn and hear about the man... I think he did things more as an attempt to wash away his sins. Social Hail Marys and Our Fathers.

Runs his car off the bridge at Chappaquiddick.
Says he makes multiple attempts to save the passenger.
Returns to the party to retrieve his cousin and friend to save his passenger.
Decides there is no saving her
Swims across the 500 foot channel and collapses in his Edgartown hotel room.
Calls his lawyer
Calls police 9 hours later.

A truly great American.  [roll]

funny how someone who was admired as a friend and foe by all of his peers can be despised by so many who know nothing about him other than what the tabloids press chooses to write. too bad the press (and you guys) are so pure, having never done anything wrong. makes it hard to walk in another mans shoes...

among other things,
he was a man who took on the responsibility for all of his nieces and nephews when their fathers where assassinated.

he was a man who took a personal interest in the individuals he served.

and he was a politician who always looked for a way to work with the other side.

how about less hate, and a little sympathy for his family?
