Ducati is having an "art contest" for the various International Clubs for the M696/M1100 Monsters.  Essentially each club was provided a set of bodywork that needed to be painted by the club members and then pictures taken and posted online for voting.

The Ducati Monster Art Contest link is here --> link  (when you visit, please vote for any of the entries!)

Besides the DMF, I also involved with www.DucCutters.com club -- which probably has the most Ducati features of modified and heavily modified Ducati's there are.  Thus once the contest was announced, we decided we wanted to do something very very different than anyone else might fathom.  To essentially create "wallpaper design patterns" and thus how they could be applied to a Ducati.  Intent was to step 100% outside of the normal paintjob parameters and here is what we created (see pictures below or via the contest site itself) -- an intermixture of the Ducati corporate logo as well as the DucCutter logo itself.  So far the response via friends is love it -vs- hate it.

We popped the panels on an M1100's enthusiasts bike for the pictures -- thanks Jerry!

www.DucCutter.com press release is here (with hires pictues) --> http://www.duccutters.com/MercifulRelease/DucCutters-006.tpl

Check out my clubs (Ducati Motor Club- Denver) post for the 2009 Monster Art Contest:  http://www.monsterartcontest.ducati.it/jspcontest/scheda.jsp?id=29

Only (4) photos were allowed to be submitted (per instruction from Ducati Italy), as well as one of the "design team".    I hope you all can enjoy our contest entry as much as we do!!!

We wanted to stay with the "hooligan" aspect of the Monster as much as possible- still allowing for some "floss".  The basecoat is a matte black, and striping in candy green and gold flake, with red pinstriping to accentuate the green striping.  In person, the bike is absolutley beautiful when viewed underneath strong lighting or sunlight.   At dark the lines are very dark and almost abstract.  We wanted to be sure and pronounce the lines of the new bodywork and stick to a "racey" theme while doing something different than anyone has done before.  We hope you like it!

Monster Art at its finest...

Congratulations to all the worldwide clubs who have been able to compete in this project.  There are many wonderful interpretations of "Monster Art"   Ultimately the benefits all of us Monster lovers by promoting the brand, the image, our artists, and our culture.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I would tell you who I voted for, but the first rule of Monster Art Club is you don't talk about Monster Art Club. The second rule of Monster Art Club, you DON'T talk about Monster Art Club!
