not clear...is it that Ducati and Ferrari hired him to design some concepts for them, or he's just some guy who managed to get a website to post his unsolicited designs?

Doesn't sound like Ducati is involved in any way.

Any other info?   if it's just unsolicited design work who cares?

Im a designer, and as a student you make designs for your portfolio (or website portfolio) and it helps to use a brand. In this case Ducati. Ducati is in no way part of it, but it shows his "capability" to follow a design language, i.e. ducati, though i dont think this does very well. And Fila? Are they even still around?
