This may be a derby, and many of you may know about it, but if you love bike builds, and vintage ones at that, check out
http://www.flashbackfab.com/
Specifically the Excelsior board track racer.

This guy is amazing. I've read the excelsior build like three times over.

I just read the Excelsior story and I am blown away.

Floored if you will.

I can't imagine building something like this from nothing.  I've made a lot of somethings from nothing before, but never something like that.

In my eyes, this is in the top 3 most awesome, best, most skillfully fabricated things I have ever seen in my life.

And right now, I can't think of what the other 2 are.

I just read the Excelsior story myself.

Damnedest thing I ever saw. I can't believe somebody could do all that.  I can barely find my way to work.

Totally slack jawed.

Wow - just the rear hub alone is worth its own website.

All with non-cnc tools also - even more impressive.

I had that thought too.

TIG welder, bridgeport and an engine lathe.

Lots of us have those same tools in the garage.

I see 3/10 have been sold, and #4 is f/s at $155,000

I wonder what his development costs were.

Note the cool mechanical throttle linkage in the video.  Thunder Road Cycles here in Los Angeles has an old Excelsior with the same set up.  Really cool workmanship, but I bet they suck to keep adjusted over time.

He is comparing himself to West Coast Choppers? And how they can build a bike in 4 to 5 days!

There is no comparison in my eyes. This bloke sh!ts all over West Coast.  waytogo

Absolutely incredible......that bike sounds amazing!!!  It is hard to imagine going 120mph on a track made from 2x6's laid by hand in a sweater and leather football helmet bow down
