ST Naked

my first impressions.
move both coils to one side
using a smaller size battery and move it up to the coil location.
bring the side covers down to follow the frame cross brace that's almost horizontal (3rd from the front)
that's just using ST parts

swapping wise. maybe use a sbk coolant tank

also try looking under the seat or maybe on the left side of the rear shock area for battery locations. then the coils wouldn't have to move.

Also, was reading desmotimes.com and apparently the 06 Spec MTS sidestand is a perfect fit on ST to get rid of the funking looking side stand

yeah but kinda defeats the purpose of getting an ST in the first place. comfortable TWO-up riding and touring

OR...I don't know where you're planning on riding but if she has ANY interest, there is always the option of just getting HER a bike and teaching her to ride her own.  I know other women who have ridden pillion only to find they are missing out on the view and experience themselves and needed their own bike anyway.  Then it has become more comfortable and enjoyable for both people involved.  I know I NEVER could have ridden from New Mexico to Alaska and back on the back of a bike myself.  Just another option.

very LONG and expensive process to get a motorcycle endorsement in Europe. but we've talked about it.

Aw, I didn't realize you are talking Europe.  Yes, I am aware of that.  Just my thoughts, but wouldn't that be fun.     I know you can rent over 50cc over there with just an endorsement from the states though, but I am sure you already researched that.  Dang economy and red tape!   

Best of luck with whatever you decide.  I was lucky enough to have the chance to learn how to ride and get my own bikes and ride both in the US and Europe and hope more women do.

I agree, as much as I admire the pictured monoposto -- that's some nice work, though I tend to like the Monster tank shape better than the ST or SS tanks on naked, monoposto bikes.

If I can get to a point where the ST2 electrical system is really something i can trust a hundred miles from nowhere, I'd love to embark on striping it semi-naked, like the black/red bike pictured early in this thread. Though I'd also like to keep the riding position, the up/down convertible exhaust and the capability to mount the hard bags and aim for the far coast... Two up, if needed, since my sweetie and I have had to take advantage of the pillion seat unexpectedly on both the Monster and the ST -- once when the ST wouldn't start a hundred miles from home, and then a bunch of times after she had surgery and spent months unable to pilot her own.

well i started this thread on the condition i was going to get an ST... well after reviewing the value of my little billfold... i feel my money is better spent rebuilding the Monster and finding a cheaper touring bike or  no bike at all. But as luck would have it, someone has a 2001 Suzuki GSF 1200S Bandit for sale for $1000 which is about $2k cheaper than any ST i found.
So we shall see. oh and already comes with said half fairing look!

There is another ST2-framed Naked project being built in Ohio currently by someone who builds Ducati's right.  Last discussion was they were changing a few things to the cooling system to clean up the appearances of the bike more.  I'm sure pictures of it will be posted when finished.
