OK, I need to rant about these stupid sons of pregnant doges.....

DRKWNG was kind enough to volunteer his time/tools/knowledge to change my oil and filter on the Sport 1000 (which hasnt been done in a year!  Shocked)  All I need to do is supply the filter, oil, and crush washer.  No problem, I say, as I head to SSC to pick up the needed supplies.  I talk to the parts guy and he says, "Oh, we dont have the filter for the SC1000".  I say "WTF, you guys are a Ducati dealer and service center, right?"  How the freak can you "service" anything without the filter?  To add insult to injury he tells me he can "special order" it, but it will take about 3 weeks.  I tell him no thanks, I will just order it from my old Ducati Dealer in New Mexico (who was FANTASTIC!).  So, as of today unless my bike needs some kind of warranty work, SSC can go freak themselves.  I will never buy anything from them.  I have no problem throwing a few extra dollars away in order to get some parts from a responsible, knowledgeable dealer instead of the Morons at SSC.

I also let Shawn, the service manager, know that they will not be able to service any SC's anytime soon because they dont have the filters, and he couldnt care less!

OK, rant over......

Feel free to join me in my boycott!

All the Ducati's made the 1290SDR possible!

When you need them you need them.  Otherwise I'd say to not let it get to you. Been there, done that. It's not the Tech's decision or the Counterman's decision. It's higher up and if the higher up doesn't care, well........

Or it could be that they just ran out of stock and the factory has been down for August summer break. Your old dealer may have had more stock on hand because they are a higher volume dealer or they simply ordered more stock ahead of time. Either way, don't sweat it.

Rick hit the nail on the head with this comment.  After a while of knowing and dealing with the guys down there you see first hand that their hands are tied.  The problem with the store is the store level management and not the guys that actually do the work.  There is one person, not mentioning names but think financing and insurance guy, there who ruins the entire experience for everyone.

My wife recently met and befriended one of the owners of the store who actually seemed unaware and even a bit concerned that the local Ducati scene looked at the store's management with such disgust.  Now I just have to wonder if anything will actually be done about it.  My guess is probably not as long as the money keeps rolling in.

PMFJI, but I thought all Ducati oil filters were the same?  So this place is a Ducati dealership and didn't have any oil filters at all in stock?

All of the Ducatis going back to about 1984 use the same filter.  It's been updated a bit (internally) but it's the same.

Same filter for the 1098 as my Pantah.

Yes, I have an '86 Cagiva Elefant with a 650cc Pantah motor that uses the same filter. That's what triggered my comment.

Not a little corner of the ocean at all.  There seems to be a universal zero point flux vortex centered on you and we observe all activity closely.   bow down

These guys are really going to come down on us now for stealing their local board!  I got mine years ago with a vague idea about an epochal (?) trip over the Bering Straits, past Lake Baikal and on to who knows where.  Then I got stuck one day 30 miles from home due to an electrical glitch and sort of lost enthusiasm.  I have Touratech bags and an updated exhaust but other than that it's fairly stock.
