I spoke with Alistair about the position, it is initially for 1 year, with a likely 1 year extension.  The visa would  be a 457 visa, so my wife could also work (she would probably try to find a vet clinic as she works at a vet clinic here).  The kids would come as well, and they would help to get them enrolled in school.

The salary and a housing allowance are negotiable, so I can probably put together a good package.  Now there is the issue of dogs and cats, that basically cannot come with us.  3 dogs and 2 cats would have to find homes.  2 of the dogs are older and 1 would probably not make it for 2 years.

Lots to consider, and there is the possibility of other work that could be done remotely if the move does not work out.  I am a partner in an internet company, and that is an issue too.

My wife and I will talk it over and see what questions we come up with.

Lot's to consider Speedevil

Pets are always difficult to take with you, I have done it from Canada to Oz and it wasn't cheap.
Min 30 days lock-up (Quarantine) and you have to start the rabies tests 6 months before the animals leave.
You see rabies is not in Oz so big time paranoid about that one.
The rest of the immigration issues are solved by just following the usual triplicate paperwork etc...
Oz immigration are much better than most from my experience.

Good luck, hope you get down here.
