You two have not had much luck recently. Glad you are OK.
I went down a few years ago on my 900SS same situation but a deep gravel filled pothole in a construction area at night. First I was up and in a turn and next thing I knew my chin guard was bouncing off the ground.

What Matador forgot to mention is that he was on MY bike (i.e. his former bike) and not the S2R.
It has not been a good summer for bikes owned by me

Very sorry to hear of this most unfortunate mishap.
It may have been worse.
The car may have missed the pot hole and it may have snuck up on you and caused a more horrendous accident.
My worse fear is that I am going at a high rate of speed on my " R " and go head on in to a vehicle or off the road and hit a large tree at a high rate of speed.
Can you say .......Splat !...or more like crrrrrrrruuuunchhhhhhh !!!!

Glad you are OK. I was lucky once. Out in the middle of nowhere, an intersection with a flashing 4-way red light. It was nearly dark, I could see semi trucks parked around the intersection, maybe a good place to park and sleep. I usually go fairly quick up to a stop, but for some reason something seemed odd and I started slowing, letting the engine slow me down well before the stop - maybe I didn't want to wake anybody up, not sure. Then I smelled diesel fuel - strong - and then both lanes looked wet... There was a large diesel spill just before the stop light. Maybe those truckers had expected some evening entertainment or something. Luckily I was slowed down enough, tapped my rear brake just enough to feel the rear wheel lock up but was able to stop there in the middle of the spill - I was lucky that night.. It was slow going getting started again with the tire wanting to spin up.

Glad you're ok. That is definitely the suckage.
I was hit on the interstate once doing about 80mph. I got lucky I was wearing a helmet and leather work gloves. Coulda been way bad, but I not only rode away I threatened the mans life(who hit me).
My biggest fear as always been coming into a corner to hot and becoming a grease smear on a rock wall (you've ridden in CO so you know the kind of walls I'm talking about). Almost happened twice, but I just leaned it over and prayed to the tire gods while using all my will power to stay off the brakes. I went over the yellow line all the way to the edge of the pavement once.

You're from New Mexico? You speak really good english.
Sorry KB and Lu will get it. Everyone else who hasn't lived in NM you'd be surprised how often you hear that down here.

There are few things scarier than watching the person you love come into your bedroom to wake you up covered in sticky black gunk and saying "Ok, Don't freak out..." oil and blood look far too much alike.
But since he wasn't hurt bad it makes for a really good story for beer time.
Sorry to hear about the fall though.
