It shouldn't be a cc exception for a mfg, it should be for all 2 cylinder engine configurations versus 4...

But, that isn't the worst.  The whole Buell RR thing is what put them and AMA on the hot seat - letting AMA teams use a non-street legal/available "model" that just came about mid season.

No problem.  Underlying the comment is a story about getting run over by a Buell, but since a picture is worth a thousand words . . .

I'd really like to think that this might be my next motorcycle.

Here, there's a pic in this thread that should help make up your mind:  http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305446  NWS

The link is a race report (with pics) from a local fast guy who is racing a SD against Ducatis, including at the AMA Laguna round.  His wife enjoys posing for pics with his bikes.   waytogo

I think you just increased SD sales by 5%.

Heehee, always the minority, I recently saw a 1125CR and was pretty impressed. They're not nearly as hideous in person as in pics. I'd take one for the stable without question.

As for the outsourcing of the engine, gee, I believe lowly Aprilia also is known to have resorted to Rotax power.....

Well, technically Buell always outsourced his engine's.  Wink I would put one in the stable as well.

Thanks Spidey.  Not sure if that was meant to help me decide for or against the SD, but I am still liking it.  Wink

I got to demo the Buell 1125CR a few weeks ago, much better than I expected.  Power strong, handling a little nervous and the ergos a little cramped.  It would make a good race bike but not a bike for street riding in my opinion.  Really wanting to demo the Streetfighter soon, got to set on one at the dealer last week seems to be a nice bike.

Reading the conclusions, pretty much every one of them said "I'd get the Buell because its cheaper, but the bike I REALLY want is the Streetfighter."

 Huh?
"We are, however, absolutely in love with its styling, engine sound, and the way it scares people as we’re wheeling past them, clicking easily through the gearbox down the road. If Ducati could just make the bike a bit more street-able – i.e. higher handlebar, a more relaxed seating position, lower gearing, they’d have a winner without question."

"It’s top dog because it delivers the most important intangible sensation when riding: Fun. It handles so perfectly that you feel like the bike is an extension of one’s being. Its ergonomics are well thought out and while its engine isn’t the fastest, it still has character and delivers all the right sensations, albeit at a tad slower speed. In fact, our only real complaints are some very minor styling and fit-and-finish issues. So, if it’s the best handling, most fun, easiest-to-use Streetfighter that you’re looking for, look no further. Say hello to the 2009 Buell 1125CR."

edit: Oh, I see the riders comments at the end...yup most of them liked the Duc.   [moto]
